    There is considerable time left in the start of the season but there are a lot of news coming through. So, just like last time we had a single thread about F1 2006 season I am starting this thread for the 2007 Season. This will allow all of us to discuss things at one place.

    My request to all the F1 fans, please post F1 2007 related stuff here.

    Hamilton's retirement has increased Alonso's chances. Had Kimi not done the same, he would have been much more closer to the Mclarens. I think, the season is still wide open. It will get more interesting towards the end.

    Newspaper slams unfair treatment for Hamilton
    Other drivers ''watched in amazement'' it claims
    23/07/07 13:24

    Hamilton enjoying a lift

    The Spanish press has reacted with irritation to what it describes as a "favour for Hamilton" by the Nurburgring marshals on Sunday.

    Spain's Diario As newspaper, whose countryman Fernando Alonso closed to within two points of his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton by winning the European Grand Prix on Sunday, reckons the track-workers behaved unfairly after Briton Hamilton slid off the circuit.

    "With a crane they helped him get going again while the rest of those in the gravel, like Scott Speed, watched in amazement because their cranes took them away from the track rather than back to it," the newspaper marvelled.

    Diario As claims the preferential treatment partly explains why Speed's team Toro Rosso refused to make its usual official comments in a post-race press release.

    Jenson Button (Honda), Adrian Sutil (Spyker), Nico Rosberg (Williams) and Tonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso) similarly aquaplaned at turn one, but only Hamilton was able to return to the track as his engine was still running. He rejoined the race a lap behind.

    ya i think ferrari should work on their reliability issues as they had a gud chance of closing the gap to the leaders.

    but still there are alot of races left hopefully they can do better..

    there is a lot of assurance after some words from TODT

    Tempers flared at the Nürburgring
    But it's all settled now
    23/07/07 16:51

    A bit of uneasiness on the Nürburgring podium

    According to Agence France-Presse, European Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso accused Felipe Massa of deliberately hitting his car during the duel that opposed both drivers at the end of Sunday's race on the Nürburgring track.

    A few minutes before the traditional ceremony, Ferrari's Felipe Massa approached McLaren's Fernando Alonso and shook his hand in the room adjacent to the podium. The folllowing conversation ensued in Italian.

    FA: "You can't do things like that."

    FM : "What are you talking about?"

    FA: "Don't play smart with me, you know very well. You hit me on purpose, you turned the wheel to push me off."

    FM : "What? Go f--k yourself!"

    FA : "You f--k off! Next time I'll push you into the wall."

    Alonso, decidely in a provocative mood, turned and smiled at the live TV camera as Massa walked away very upset, his dark mood still quite apparent during the podium ceremony.

    Once tempers had calmed down as the post-race FIA press conference began, Fernando Alonso admitted that he had over-reacted.

    "We touched each other two times and I apologise to him (Massa) because I was so stressed when I finished the race because we nearly didn’t finish the race. Now I try to enjoy the victory and forget everything," the Spaniard said as he sat next to Massa, quickly touching his neighbour's forearm in a friendlier gesture.

    The Brazilian was still somewhat flared however: "I was really surprised when he came to say that I did that on purpose.
    I would never do something like that on purpose. Like I said in Barcelona, it was normal, here it was normal and it's going to be like that. So if he was a little bit unhappy, it's not my problem."

    "With Felipe at the end it was close but as I said before, I apologise if I said anything to him, because it's motor racing and it's a fight," added Alonso.

    "We finished the race, so I don't want to talk any more about this and I want to enjoy the win," he stated, wishing to close the matter.

    Prompted by the assembled journalists, Alonso returned to the delicate subject a few minutes later.

    "I was not too happy at the end of the race because we touched each other but now, five minutes later on the podium I realised that this is motor racing, so I will not talk any more," he repeated.

    The subject seemed to be closed for Massa also: "If somebody tells me something I did wrong and I didn't, I will be unhappy. That is normal. But if he has apologized, then that's fine. He knows he was not right after the race."

    Bad tempers and apologies – on certain occasions, both are a part of motorsports...

    @comtrak

    Duh? Massa hit Alonso on purpose and when Alonso told him to behave Massa replied in an abusive language.

    So what logic are you trying to get out of this news?

    Alonso was more than 8 sec ahead of Massa at the finish line. Should Alonso had waited behind Massa's slow car to be 2nd at the podium ?

    @nightsurfer

    No hard feelings. You are entitled to your opinion like i am to mine.

    No one wins races and chmpionships in unreliable cars. Schumacher`s engine problem at Suzuka last year was his first for something like 5 years!!

    Your dislike of Alonso is pretty understandable. He is the one who dislodged your Invincible Hero. So what ever Fernando Alonso achieves in his career you and many like you will find reasons to cast doubts over it. That is exactly what people used to do with Michael Schumacher. It never changed the fact that Schumacher was the best driver of his generation just like Alonso is of his generation. Hamilton might well turn it around but i wont judge him based on 10 races or one season. Alonso has beaten the best and Hamilton has to do that to both Alonso and Raikkonen on regul;ar basis not just one season.

    In my previous thread i never claimed to be the most informative person and if it came across like that then i`m sorry.

    One last thing. My request to all here. Please get your F1 news from Autosport. It is the most credible source. Dont quote things from tabloid newspapers, e.g So and so quoted by Spanish newspaper or Italian newspaper etc etc. Thats just gossip and that is what tabloids do. There is hardly ever any truth in it. If you dont mind alot of British bias then itv-f1 is not a bad site either.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    @UncleKracker

    If that is how you think about it, I can't change that. But what I feel is that Alonso is not greater than Raikonnen. I am really looking forward decision regarding awarding the championship to the one who wins the most races. Pardon me, but seconds, thirds, fourths.. have had a great part to play in Alonso's championships. I mantain, that he had to be in an absolutely great car to win these Championships. Kimi, came quite close to doing the same in an insanely unreliable Mclaren.

    @UncleKracker

    first i think a driver is rated from his stats so please have the liberty to check out Schumacher. Alonso is a gud driver but is he good enough this year he has been beaten by Massa, Raikonnen and his rookie teammate hamilton......

    it was his luck in last season and some gud driving...
