    Default Chevrolet Aveo Launched

    Saw the advertisement in Dawn today.
    1500 cc , ABS , CD/MP3 player , steering wheel audio controls , immobliser , keyless entry.
    Really nice interior.
    Price isn't given and the website hasn't been updated yet.
    Will go to check it out today.

    Something's NOT RIGHT, about the way new models are being introduced in Pakistan!.I can't quite hit the nail on the head on this one!.I've been quiet for a while on this subject as i ballyhoo the Indian car scene and i don't wanna come across as biased!.Something ain't right!.This is not the way they sell cars in other countries!!.That's all i have to say!

    @hamdani
    Keep dreaming that one day Good Quality vehicles will be produced at a price of Junk.

    Follow my post properly then you'd get my point. I say let this car fail. Let it be present in a few number. How much load will these existing assemblers bear? How much? The new arrivals will DEFINITELY bring easiness. The process has started. Atleast with that we've seen 2% change in Mehran. They bothered to give crystal lamps with some interior upgradation. Who forced them doing that? Even if ppl will buy XLi, the competition will force IMC to improve XLi.
    Ofcourse from company's point of view this might not be a good market exploitation but we should see from consumer point of view not from company's point of view.

    u know a car wud never be successful after 2 0r 3 years of its launch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,its a hit or a flop right from the month its launched,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,bcoz then the flop car gets a tag attached to it,,,,,,,,,,,,,that its a flop,,,,,,,,,,,,,,tough it might be one of the best cars,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so the policy shud be spot on right from the first day,,,,,,,,,,,,,this is the reality

    Pardon me for disagreeing here. Take example...Chevrolet Exclusive after its launch was considered as a flop car. I used to see hardly 1 or 2 in a week on roads. What now? I guess it captured good market share, didn't it? People get to know of a car not in the first month. They start considering it after some time. I was asked by uncountable persons about Exclusive when i used to roam on roads.
    So its not that people just become blind whenever they see a new car on road. They DO ask about it and then they CONSIDER it if its worthy enough and then they DO BUY it. All those who bought exclusive were least bothered about Re-sale as they knew that Exclusive would be zero in this area. Still they bought it. And i reckon ppl said at that time..."car should've been priced around 4 lacs"...lolz...ppl dream too much.

    I know it sir.
    Probably one of the main reasons why Big 3 went down.
    I know if Aveo is priced 1.5m then who would bother to buy it. But atleast one has to carry out a reasonable VFM test. Does a car really gives you features/accessories not given by other cars at a bit lower price?

    Don't want to repeat myself but...

    Our point is that our people are the most difficult people to convince. People normally do not blindly trust new comers, and to convince them to buy one's cars they should be given some sort of incentive or concession. I totally agree with @nickatnite and @hamdani here.

    We all know how pricing is done and one can not sell gold in iron's price but it is not the case here. Nexus should have introduced a base model for less.

    Yes, in India there is the huge advantage of economy of scale. The cars scenario in India was zero in the early 90s and we were producing Toyota Corolla and Honda Civics but now look where their industry is standing. It is all because of competition. The companies there made the people buy their cars, they did not expect them to do so. Sadly, this is the case with Nexus here.

    @nick... why India has gone a decade ahead in just a decade or so is the middle class that started with the ancient ambassador when we laughed at them while running in corollas and civics... and now they are exporting their engineering quality to the WORLD while we are importing upto our necks. Its not that India doesnt import cars... but they bring technology in, establish plants, and govt remains fair... not like our Govt whose MPs cherish in driving 15 million Rs imports while ppl commit suicide of hunger outside their offices. who has bought a single revo in whole of Pak govt... NONE.

    ppl talk about introducing cruise controls, higher bhp, airbags, abs, does that matter to a middle class person stuffing his family of 6 in a mehran or alto... holding their bags in their laps cuz of the cng cylinder in the back... that is what true pakistan auto reality is.... many decent households in pak hardly can afford a mehran/alto and nothing more... cars like aveo and for that matter city, liana are not true representative of common drivers... and unfortunately the new comers in pak dont bring anything for the common man, they invest for the rich... and the govt doesnt intervene too, cuz they comprise the rich and the black money together... you bring something for a common man under 5 lakh... u break the REAL ICE for pak auto industry.

    @doc...

    Dude...we shouldn't really point fingers at others, but...Damn...What you brought in the limelight is SO RIGHT!!...

    This is the problem here!....

    We just cant accuse manufacturers or dealers if WE (consumers) keep thinking like this!
    RX-7? An RX-7? Really? I hope you know it's just a sports car with a washing machine under the hood.

    We say the price should be lower... how come we people dont realize that we are getting an imported car for the price of a locally assembled car? We are getting the latest Aveo model which is currently available around the world. Remember the Liana was for over 12 lacs when imported. I think we are really stupid for buying cars like the Cultus which is a 15 year old model for over 6 lacs! I like the Aveo and would have bought it if I didnt have a Lancer in which I am losing over 3 lacs in less than 2 years if i sell it due to Dewan's messed up pricing strategy.

    By the way the ABS and Airbag is an option exactly for the reason the Pakistani customer is 1st price concious and safety is the last priority. I would pay Rs. 35,000 for this option but I'm sure most Pakistani customers wont.

    Oh and one other thing... people here want 1000cc, 1100cc, 1300cc engines. Let me clarify. The Aveo has the following engine variations as far as I can tell: 1200cc hatchback & 1400cc, 1500cc & 1600cc sedan. Maybe even 1800cc in the US.

    THERE IS NO 1300CC ENGINE AVAILABLE OR MADE BY CHEVROLET (as far as I can tell after going to Chevrolet India and US websites).

    I personally like the Liana... just the 'S' on the steering wheel and grill spoil it for me. Chevy badge, even a large one, is way better dont u think?

    Today I went to Chevrolet Platinum Motors to have a look at Chevrolet Aveo. Believe me this car is really very well built. I not only looks strong but it is. Its really very good looking with huge trunk and interior spacing. Wooden trim gives elegant feeling. I just didn't like the AC vents. Rest the car is great.

    @excalibur...

    dont worry..
    all these ppl who say this car shud be lower priced are one of those ppl who prefer shitty GLis and Cultuses just becoz they can get their money back after 5 years!...

    This is how 80% of paki auto buyers think...and we wont be able to change that!

    I have a feeling that Aveo is a dressed up Liana!..

    Liana is a suzuki (GM) and Aveo is a Chevy(GM)

    These compact cars could be using the same platform/chassis/powertain!..

    Look out coz this cud be the Chevy Epica/Suzuki Verona case!!..

    Do some research on this!

    Class Factor:

    Look at the Class who pay 8 or 9 Lacs for a Suzuki or Toyota or sometimes a Honda, They are Not Filthy Rich people, for most that amount is a saving of Years, For Most.

    Now, if you got lot of Funds and if you like this car, go ahead buy it, if you dont like it, you Wont buy it for 5 lacs, you ll probably buy a 15 Lac rupee imported Accord or a Premio etc.
