I personally wouldnt miss Silverstone if its dropped from the calender. It means alot to the british drivers obviously, and as Button said Britain is supposedly the heart of F1 with many teams based there. I dont think having a sell out crowd is a reason to continue to hold the GP there. No circut makes money from a GP.
I dont see how Silverstone can keep up with government backed tracks like Bahrain or China. My only fear being that it will be replaced by another of Hermann Tilke`s bland and boring tracks.
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    LOL Good one, RedBull_ar.

Maybe this article might shed some light on his future employment.

Analysis: Alonso, Hamilton wait on hearing

Formula One's governing body will question Renault on Thursday in a hearing that could determine whether double world champion Fernando Alonso returns to his former team.

On Friday, the Spaniard's erstwhile McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton will discover whether his 2008 title bid is to be handicapped months before the season starts in Australia next March.

    Briatore threatens to sue McLaren

Flavio Briatore has threatened to sue McLaren after the FIA's World Council investigates espionage allegations in a Monaco hearing on Thursday.

"A lot of very bad things have been said about us by McLaren in the last few weeks; very damaging," the Renault boss is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.

Raikkonen would welcome Alonso as team-mate

Kimi Raikkonen says he wouldn't mind sharing his Ferrari garage in the future with Fernando Alonso.

"I would have no problem with that at all," the newly crowned world champion told the Roman newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Loeb good enough for F1 switch - Lafitte

Countryman praises the WRC star after test

Sebastien Loeb could successfully switch to Formula One if he was offered a good drive, according to former French Grand Prix winner Jacques Lafitte.

Loeb, who only a few days ago secured his fourth World Rally crown, on Wednesday got his first taste of F1 power when - for a promotional exercise - he swapped his Citroen C4 for Heikki Kovalainen's Renault at Paul Ricard.

Raikkonen slip reveals Ferrari launch date

Ferrari's 2008 car is to be launched on 7 January, according to an apparent slip-of-the-tongue by new world champion Kimi Raikkonen.

The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport suggests that the Finn mistakenly revealed the information to the media, thinking that his Maranello based employer had already announced the news.

    AWESOME images bro!

I don't think Loeb will come to F1, but then I would contradict myself by saying that he has achieved everything in WRC and he might be think about different challenges. But again I would say, it is highly unlikely.

    ----

Mclaren sure look to be in some more trouble.

World Motor Sport Council - Decision

Statement regarding the Renault rule breach

No penalty for the Renault F1 Team
The World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) met on 6 December 2007 to consider a charge that Renault F1 Team (Renault) had breached Article 151c of the International Sporting Code, which prohibits "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally".

    Alonso-Renault announcement imminent

Path cleared for Alonso to rejoin Renault

Alonso expected to join Piquet at Renault
With Renault spared sanctions for possessing McLaren secrets, the path is now clear for Fernando Alonso to sign with the French team for 2008.

The Spaniard had delayed his final decision about next year until it was clear that he would not bear the burden of any penalties; or whether in fact Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn would pull the plug on the F1 programme altogether in the face of a hefty fine.

Michael Schumacher expected test in 2008

Ferrari keen to utilise Schumacher's vast experience

Schumacher enjoying his testing stint with Ferrari
Michael Schumacher may return to the wheel of Ferrari's Formula One cars in the New Year, a Ferrari spokesman admitted on Thursday.

At Barcelona last month, the seven time world champion tested in earnest for the first time since retiring as a racer in 2006.

He has now re-appeared at Jerez this week, first on Thursday in front of an extraordinarily large crowd of 17,000. His programme on Friday will close the 2007 F1 test year.

Ferrari simulator to be best in F1

Marc Gene keeping sharp in the simulator

Gene on track this week with Ferrari
Ferrari is hard at work on a new Formula One simulator, according to reports.

The sports daily Marca claims that Marc Gene is at the forefront of the high-tech equipment's development, and that his test at Jerez this week was almost exclusively centred on collecting information for the simulator.

McLaren's top secret state-of-the-art simulator is known as being currently the best among F1 teams, and it took much of the credit for Lewis Hamilton's sensational rookie season in 2007.

McLaren will notice Alonso absence - Massa

''He has done Ferrari a great favour''

Massa happy to see Alonso leave McLaren
McLaren will notice the absence of Fernando Alonso in 2008, Felipe Massa has warned.

The Ferrari driver told the Spanish television network TV3: "He has done Ferrari a great favour by leaving McLaren."

"The loss will be very significant to them (McLaren) because he is a great driver. They will notice it," Massa added.

Despite the collaboration netting four victories in 2007, Alonso and McLaren terminated their contract at the end of a tumultuous season.

No green light for McLaren's MP4-23

Further WMSC meeting scheduled for February

McLaren had hoped for a conclusion
    in the ongoing chassis investigation
The McLaren Mercedes team had hoped that the investigation into its 2008 contender, the MP4-23, would be given the green light after a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council. However, the team will now have to wait until mid-February before the governing body determines the legality of the car.

The following is a statement issued by the FIA:

"In its decision of 13 September 2007, the WMSC instructed the FIA Technical Department to conduct an investigation of the preparatory work by McLaren on its 2008 car to determine whether that car incorporates any confidential Ferrari information.

So finally, things are getting clearer for everyone but Mclaren. Now that Renault have been cleared, they will be filing a lawsuit against Mclaren. So glad, that Ferrari are out of this mess and now after winning both the titles, they look in good shape.

    Ten year engine freeze ratified

    Restrictions on wind tunnel usage

Engines now fixed for the next decade
The FIA's World Motor Sport Council on Friday ratified an immediate ten-year freeze on Formula One engine development.

Between next year and 2017, each team may only use a 2007-spec engine design that is to be "delivered (to the FIA) no later than 31 March 2008," a statement announced.

At the third annual Motor Sport Business Forum in Monaco this week, FIA President Max Mosley explained the decision to freeze engines in Formula One.

"There is no need to develop an F1 engine any further. The engine runs at 19,000 rpm which is far faster than any comparable engine. It sounds good, it's reliable and amazingly the six partially frozen engines of the current manufacturers are really evenly matched," the Briton said in his keynote speech.
