Well the aussies have spoken... the australian grand prix will not be transformed into a night event... the aussies are saying it would be way too expensive and their local viewers would be adversely effected too... looks like the qussie race might be over with in a couple of years when their contract runs out...

Ferrari vow to work on reliability issues

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has said his team's biggest concern is lack of reliability rather than the speed of their car or drivers after a disastrous Australian Grand Prix.

The Maranello-outfit had headed into the season-opener as favourites to continue the run of form that had helped Kimi Raikkonen win last year's drivers' championship.

Rosberg: there's a lot more to come

Nico Rosberg says his third place in the Australian Grand Prix is just the tip of the iceberg for Williams in 2008.

The team has shown resurgent form in testing, and Rosberg recovered from a difficult Friday to clinch the first podium of his Formula 1 career with a charging drive in the race

Lauda slams drivers after Ferrari debacle
A poor showing all around from Ferrari in Melbourne

    Ferrari looked asleep in Melbourne
Ferrari's poor reliability in Australia was well documented, but former triple world champion Niki Lauda insists that the drivers were arguably the Italian team's weakest link at the 2008 season opener.

"Kimi Raikkonen did not seem like the world champion," the Austrian legend, in the Albert Park paddock, observed to the German newspaper Bild.

Reports say Ferrari to debut radical nose
    Possible appearance next month

A nostril on the Ferrari nose?
Ferrari could debut a radical solution at the front of its F2008 single seater at the Bahrain Grand Prix next month, reports say.

It was rumoured in the recent pre-season period that the upcoming innovation was effectively an opening in the upper front of the car's nose; approximately where the Bridgestone 'B' logo is currently located.

Italian press slams Ferrari for Aus 'disaster'
No good words for the scuderia

Not the best way to start a season
The partisan but famously volatile Italian press predictably lashed out at Ferrari after the Maranello team's disastrous beginning to its 2008 championship defence in Australia.

The sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport summed up the mood by labelling the Prancing Horse's Melbourne effort a "disaster" strewn with "incredible errors".

    Domenicali wants to avoid overreactions
The word at Ferrari is to stay cool

Time to analyze what happened, says Domenicali
Scuderia Ferrari's new Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali, put a brave face on his team's performance in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne. Neither car took the chequered flag, but Kimi Raikkonen was eventually classified eighth although both his and teammate Felipe Massa's car were stopped by engine problems.

"It was very tough, no doubt," admitted Domenicali. "The result speaks for itself. Unfortunately it was a dreadful weekend. Nothing went as planned, so it was difficult. But if you remember in 2006 we had a similar start with the two DNFs and we were able to catch up again."

    - Formula 1 - Season 2008 - -819802

Briatore saves cheeky smile for McLaren setback
    As did Alonso...

Renault officials had little to be pleased about after a difficult opener to their 2008 season.

Team boss Flavio Briatore, though, saved a haughty smile for late in the Melbourne race, after his McLaren counterpart and nemesis Ron Dennis was captured by live television pumping the air with delight.

Dennis was clearly delighted when Heikki Kovalainen muscled past Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard who spectacularly fell out with his British team in 2007 before switching back to Renault.

    @beglar_begi

I was not destined to watch this GP. Managed to watch the first 16 laps to the point when the first BMW made a pitstop and just as it was leaving the pit-lane so did my cable!

From whatever i managed to see i think the Ferrari of Raikkonen looked mighty given the fuel on board. With Kimi stuck behind Rubens for those initial laps it put into context where Honda is relative to the front runners, and the answer is way way behind.

The qualifying pace of BMW was deceiving. For now they might be the best of the rest behind Mclaren and Ferrari but are unlikely to to trouble them anytime soon.

Was good to see Alonso bring the shopping trolley home in fourth place.

    @comtrak
The prediction and choice for round two would be very interesting indeed especially given the weekend from hell that Ferrari endured.
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

Here is how I see things...

Mclaren went uncontested (i dont say this because i support ferrari) because they had a reliable car whereas their main rivals did not... so they got the points they deserved.

Ferrari seem to have a cycle of unreliability that they go through... I hope they fix this pronto and I'm pretty sure they will... I agree with UKracker jack in that if you consider the amount of fuel kimi had at the start of the race his pace was mind boggling...

Kudos to BMW but lets see for how long they can sustain the pace and the reliability... and i think rosberg is going to come good for williams this year...
