No comment from FIA over Mosley scandal

Formula One's governing body, the FIA, has kept its distance from ****** allegations in a British tabloid newspaper about its president Max Mosley.

The News of the World reported in a front page story that FIA president Mosley, 67, had taken part in a 'sadomasochistic orgy' with five prostitutes that was alleged to involve Nazi role-playing.

    Montezemolo: Massa not under pressure

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says Brazilian driver Felipe Massa in not under pressure despite his poor start to the 2008 season.

Massa has retired from both the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix - from second in the second race - and speculation has already suggested the Brazilian's seat could be in danger despite having two years of his contract left.

    Symonds: 2007 still hindering Renault

Renault are still paying the price for their troubles of last year, claims engineering director Pat Symonds.

On the back of a difficult 2007 campaign, the French team have not yet rediscovered the form that took them to world titles with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006.

And Symonds believes the cause of their current plight, which has left them as the fifth or sixth fastest team, can be traced back to the wind tunnel correlation problems that derailed their efforts last year.

McLaren put to back of Sakhir pitlane

Bahrain Grand Prix organisers have apologised to McLaren fans after having to demote the Formula One leaders to the slow end of the pitlane for next Sunday's race.

The garage allocation is based on last year's positions in the constructors' standings and McLaren were stripped of all their points in 2007 due to a spying controversy over possession of Ferrari data.

    Mosley calls extraordinary FIA meeting

FIA president Max Mosley has called an Extraordinary General Assembly meeting of motor racing's governing body to discuss the fallout of the tabloid revelations into his private life.

On the back of a raft of calls for the FIA to take action over the matter, Mosley has asked the president of the FIA Senate to arrange the meeting for the earliest possible date.

Alonso not giving up on Renault

World champion Fernando Alonso says he is committed to bringing Renault back to the top step of the podium and has denied he has a performance clause in his contract allowing him to leave the team at the end of the season.

But the 26-year-old Spaniard, who has been linked to switch to Ferrari in 2009, hinted to reporters in Bahrain that it was too early in the season for him to make firm decisions about his future.

    FIA confirms qualifying changes

The FIA has confirmed the change it will make to the regulations for the final qualifying session in a bid to avoid a repeat of the problems that marred the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Calls to introduce a maximum laptime were made in the wake of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton being penalized for getting in the way of Nick Heidfeld and Fernando Alonso in the closing seconds of Q3 at Sepang.

More worrying that the sporting aspect, however, was the fact that the closing speed of the cars on flat-out qualifying laps and those cruising back to the pits made the situation very dangerous.

Villeneuve: Hamilton has no excuses in '08

Jacques Villeneuve says Lewis Hamilton will have no excuses if he doesn't win this year's title after "losing" last year's crown.

McLaren driver Hamilton, making his grand prix debut last year, led the championship race for a big part of the season, but in the end lost out to Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen by one point.

Prospects of a very interesting race with different strategies at play. I expect Kubica to be the first of the front runners to make a stop.
I don't understand Raikkonen`s philosophy of insisting on running heavy in qualifying, and starting the race from 4th or 3rd or 5th on the grid. Granted he has the pace , and the car to pump in very quick laps by running long but by not starting at the front he is inviting trouble. Sooner or later he will get caught in a first corner incident of someone else`s making which will compromise his race, and might well compromise his championship bid.
Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.
