    @UK

thanks for the q&a with brawn... i have begun to think that if brawn was taken into toyota we would probably have really seen an impact... honda better get their act (and the graphics on their car) together... oh yeah thats right... they're gonna suck this year and possibly next year before the brawn effect is fully felt...

Massa flies on slicks at Barcelona

Felipe Massa set a blistering pace in Formula One's return to testing action, the Brazilian using slick tyres to finish over two and a half seconds in front of his closest rival at Barcelona.

Massa's best time of 1:18.339 put him 2.7 seconds ahead of Honda test driver Alex Wurz, who also set his best time on slick tyres.

How BMW turned its form around

BMW Sauber heads back to Europe looking down on the rest of the field after its surprisingly strong start to the season saw it leapfrog both Ferrari and McLaren to lead the constructors' championship after round three in Bahrain.

This achievement comes just three months after the new F1.08 car's initial performance in testing gave the team serious cause for concern.

    Renault runs RBR-style 'shark fin

Renault has unveiled an engine cover fin on its R28 car at Barcelona on Tuesday.

The former champion team is trying out a number of new aerodynamic developments this week in a bid to improve its pace, and day two of the test has seen it take inspiration from engine customers Red Bull Racing.

Aguri needs Honda help to make Spain

Super Aguri co-owner Fumio Akita concedes the Magma Group’s decision to pull out of its takeover of the team means it may now have to bank on extra support from Honda to make the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Leafield-based squad’s immediate future was thrown into fresh doubt earlier this week when its prospective new owners backed out of its expected buyout after informing the team its investors no longer wished to fund the deal.

Raikkonen still wary of McLaren threat

Kimi Raikkonen isn't ready to rule out McLaren as Ferrari's main rival this season, despite BMW being his closest challenger in the last two races.

BMW have finished on the podium at every race this season and had both cars ahead of the two McLarens at Bahrain two weeks ago.

But the reigning champion thinks their positions could easily be reversed during the next three races at very different circuits.

    Porsche: scandal makes F1 unattractive

Car makers Porsche and Volkswagen have ruled out entering Formula One, saying high costs and a sex scandal involving motorsport chief Max Mosley made the sport unattractive to them.

"300 million euros a year - that is just burning money," Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech told German news magazine Stern on Friday.

"And after the affair with Max Mosley and the women it would not be very savoury to get involved (in Formula One) now," added his Porsche counterpart Wolfgang Porsche.

Symonds: R28 did not meet expectations

Renault's director of engineering Pat Symonds says the performance of the team's R28 car has failed to meet their expectations despite making a huge gain in performance over the winter.

The French squad, world champions in 2005 and 2006, endured a disappointing 2007 and decided on an early shift of focus that they hoped would help them fight back this year.

However, Renault have so far been unable to match the pace of the leading teams and have scored just six points in the first three races.

    Ferrari rules out Alonso-Kimi line-up

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says he wouldn’t want to disrupt the harmony inside the team by signing Fernando Alonso to partner Kimi Raikkonen.

Renault’s double world champion has been rumoured as a potential future recruit for the Italian squad since last year, with speculation about a possible move in 2009 resurfacing following Felipe Massa’s poor start to the season.

    http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=42351

Ferrari not interested in signing Alonso

Bringing Fernando Alonso to Ferrari to partner world champion Kimi Raikkonen would not be desirable, team president Luca di Montezemolo said on Tuesday.

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/66766

    P: S
In the second story on autosport , Montezemolo is quoted as saying " I want two equal drivers that work together"

I dont know what Mr Montezemolo is trying to say. 1) That Raikkonen and Massa are on equal level. 2) That Alonso is on a superior level to Raikkonen or vica versa.

Imho he is wrong on both counts if that`s what he`s trying to imply.

    DC's latest column

David Coulthard had another dramatic but unlucky outing in Bahrain, getting hit at the start and later by his friend Jenson Button.

In his latest exclusive column, DC reflects on that incident and expresses some reservations about the 2009 rules package, which the teams sampled in testing at Barcelona last week.

The 2009 rules in the spotlight

With slick tyres, drastically reduced downforce and energy recovery systems giving them temporary boosts of extra power, Formula 1 cars are going to be very different animals next year.

In his latest feature for itv.com/f1, Mark Hughes analyses what effect this trio of changes is likely to have on lap times and overtaking opportunities.
