    Default car with best power steering

    hi guys i dont what do many people see in a car when they buy them heres what i see is its power steering. i have a rolla xli (06) and i regreat the day i bought that car. first i installed 17 inch rims in the car i couldnt even turn the wheel. so after 4 hours i changed them and got 14 inch alloy rims with yokohoma tyres. then it was light just a little. my friend has a city vario(07) he installed 17 inches rims .and guys guess what it didnt even effect his steering at all.it was the same as before with org 13 inchs . so from my point of veiw city has the best power steering. atleast indus could do is put an eps in xli for the money they charging for it and plus the own . i paid rs 100000 for my white xli . so what do you guys think

    that's y i was calling the new cars as junks

    they have no pick

    their bodie r just like a wraping paper

    in which they wrap a junk

    EPS, power windows, rims, etc etc r not for the making the drive easy

    they r just for show-off

    and for this show-off we pay tooooooo much money on vehicles

    i think cars like 2d do not have price more than Rs.800K

    but they r making us FOOL by their useless logo

    Generally, Electronic / Electric Power Assist is used to save on cost. It's true that it doesn't load an engine down as does hydraulic steering, but then it doesn't have the feel either. Almost any self-respecting sports car will use hydraulic power steering systems (if any) due to this.

    EPS or EPAS is easier to port between different cars and LHD / RHD configurations. You just need to tune the software and it works. Hydraulic systems are tuned mechanically specifically for each car. Thus the greater expense. Don't think that EPS is a technological advancement for the driver, it's a cost-reducing device.

    sami_voodoo:

    Read here regarding the absence of an EPS in the new Civic 1.8 and you'll come to know that it actually costs more than the hydraulic system..

    @memphis

    Thanks for the link. It was interesting reading. I would say that both of us are right, i.e. retrofitting an EPS in place of a hydraulic system when R&D is already done on the hydraulic system would be foolish. I think the article was trying to say that using an EPS in place when a hydraulic system already existed would be a waste of money. It is true though, from scratch, the EPS would cost significantly less as compared to a hydraulic system. And a hydraulic system is not "tune-able". Once it's calibrated and put into the car, it stays as it is. In an EPS, you can reprogram the ECU to give a different steering feel in a different application. It's this flexibility that gives it a lower price.

    Cheers!
