    Wow, same guess as mine I was also thinking that the times could be around 1.6secs off of Massa's F60 on that circuit. Also good points about the difference of temperatures and without DD diffuser and so it does mean that TC was providing a big help for drivers during cornering but that raises a new question then how come this season drivers are able to match or came close to times set in season 2004 and 2005 when the engines are 3.0L V10 and RPM limit were 20K to 21K.

    The biggest reason has to be slick tires. They have made up for a lot of lost time, and if we had two tire manufacturers today the times would have been so much quicker than they are. Tire war does that, the softer the compound the quicker the lap obviously and Bridgestone have brought some really ridiculous soft compounds to races this year which were good enough for three fours laps mostly.

    Secondly, the engine capacity does not always reflect in the engine out put. If that were the case, Americans would have the fastest cars. A big engine does not necessarily produce more horse power or constant power throughout the rev band. An easy example is the Brabus SL600, it produces 730 BHP. When tested on the top gear circuit, it was insane! Ended being slower than a lot of cars with less BHP.

    You can check a lot of cars Here Go to the compare section and pick any car you want to compare.

    @Toofan

    Bro, you already have the name by now, but for your eyes only Here Seems she has finished in 2nd place too in onee of the races. You keep an eye on her

    @Sheheryaar

    Boadoer was not restricted to doing 100 Kph. Raher, he was allowed to do no more than100 Kms in a day, that's the total distance. For two days that is 200 Kms which comes to about 124 miles, i think. That is more than half distance of a GP. He clearly has a better idea of the F60 than Schumacher would have had if he was fit enough to race of poor Grosjean would have of the Renault or Jamie Alguersuari in the Toro Rosso.

    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    Correct that slicks are covering the lost of downforce but power to weight ratio is same for this year's car and 2004-05 cars isn't it. Also we don't know how much time will be lost if this year's cars will use grooves because the time difference is about 3 to 4 secs off of 2008 times. If I remember one of the team's commented that we have lost about 1 sec because of less aero efficiency and by using slicks we are gaining about 0.5 to 0.7 secs that is the net lost is 0.3 secs. SL600 Brabus have 750BHP but what about the weight that car have it certainly take some power off the engine. F1 cars are light and they are design to pullout the max power from the engine, and what about the the RPM limit difference that is present a 2k to 3k difference is not neglegible also now the engines are freeze for full season while in 2004-05 we have one engine per race rule and engines are not freeze.

    Now FIA has released the 2010 season rules and regulations and qualifying changes are as we all are expecting that if 26 car grid then Q1 takes last 8 out then Q2 takes last eight out while the Q3 will have a 10 car shootout with low fuel because all the cars started the race with full tanks of fuel. if the 24 cars grid each Q1 and Q2 will see 7 cars falling out so that 10 cars will be in the Q3 and if 22 cars grid then each Q1 and Q2 will see 6 cars falling out and Q3 have the top ten for Q3.

    Changes to qualifying in 2010 rules

    The FIA's new sporting and technical regulations for the 2010 Formula 1 world championship, published today, feature changes to the qualifying procedure to accommodate the expected 26-car grid next year.

    Team US F1 primary investor Chad Hurley believes the new grand prix team can do a YouTube and become a huge success by doing things differently.

    God help Grosjean, Jean Alesi has been his mentor!! Alesi, one of my favourites, is not the guy you want to learn racing from especially if you want to be considered successful in the eyes of people like Rani Mukherjee aka rani1 Alesi is right in suggesting that in some ways there should be no pressure on Grosjean, going into these races as Alonso's team mate. No one expects him to beat Alonso, if he does he will be a hit and his stock will rise.

    Adrian Newey likes designing boats and yachts. He has been doing that for some time and has always wanted to go that way, he wants to win America's cup with his designed boat. That has been his ambition from the days when he was working at Williams

    We will see how good this Mclaren is when we get to Spa. Taking a win when a few front runners went out, others were put on wrong tires, doesn't say much about how much the team has improved given that these two tracks, Monaco and Hungaroring were always going to be good for Mclaren. It's when they go to tracks with fast flowing corners where aerodynamic grip is everything, will we really get an idea of where Mclaren is in the pecking order.

    @genius83

    The qualifying is as we expected, as pointed out by you. The best thing about it is that Q3 will be on low fuel. NO more of the crap we have had the last few years. No more qualifying with race fuel load.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    I like the changes to qualifying it will be the best car and best driver in pole position. Who is rani mukherje? I am sad after i read this news on f1 live http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/090818101005.shtml. Kimi is a very good driver but so insensitive? No one telephone call to his team mate. Racing is going to start soon after a long break what do you guys think can hamilton really win again? Did teams develop any new parts during this time because Brawn racing need to find out reasons why they not get heat in tyres. I am too much excited and hopping for ferrari win in valencia. Kimi showed good speed in monaco and hungary. This track is a little like that so a good result will be a gift for injured massa.

    unclekracker, i did not know about that. Maybe it was organised before massa had the accident and that is the reason luca badoer was allowed but it is un fair i agree.

    Todt plans to improve FIA transparency

    FIA presidential candidate Jean Todt has written to the members of the sport's governing body outlining details of how he would introduce change to the organisation's statutes to increase transparency and efficiency into its decision-making processes.

    Kubica, Heidfeld surprised that BMW quit

    BMW drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld have both said that BMW's withdrawal from Formula 1 took them by surprise.

    Heidfeld confident of staying in F1

    Nick Heidfeld says he is confident about his chances of racing in Formula 1 next season, despite BMW announcing its departure from the sport the end of 2009.

    Kubica "open-minded" on 2010 options

    Robert Kubica is 'open minded' about his options for a drive in 2010, following BMW's decision to withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of the season.

    Vatanen unveils election manifesto

    FIA presidential hopeful Ari Vatanen has unveiled his manifesto for the forthcoming election - and outlined the details of the changes that he will undertake at the governing body if he wins October's vote.

    Button thinks tyre problems are fixed

    Jenson Button is optimistic that Brawn GP has got to the bottom of the tyre heating issues that have stalled his world championship campaign - but says the team will only find out on Friday whether such faith is justified.

    Rosberg would relish McLaren chance

    Nico Rosberg says he is ready to take on the challenge of going up against Lewis Hamilton at McLaren, after emerging as clear favourite to take the second seat at the team if it drops Heikki Kovalainen.

    Badoer to race until Massa returns

    Luca Badoer has confirmed that he will continue to race the second Ferrari until Felipe Massa is fit enough to return.

    @Shehryaar

    Ferrari will only try to take Massa on a same outing like Michal when he is fully fit physically that is his stitches are remove and the sore eye have healed and also the clear knowledge of his skull fracture been healed and that means it take about 2 months atleast before we hear any thing positive of his return to the track even for testing and the chances are even if he wants to return to the track for racing and Ferrari also found that he is fit still FIA medical team will not allow him to come back soon just to save him from any more danger and thatswhy Bernie have said that he doesnot think Massa will be able to return this season.

    Now you have asked UK about the rani well I would say go back 2 or 3 pages in this topic and you will find who is rani1. Just a hint UK and that rani1 have some confrontation where rani1 have cross some lines which lead to heated debate.

    About the news piece regarding Kimi here is a link look at it yourself plus just to clarify Kimi have visited Massa in Hungarian hospital but just like his usual style his visit was not been covered by F1 media the way it should be.

    Vettel extends his contract with RBR

    Sebastian Vettel has committed his long term future to Red Bull Racing, after extending his deal with the team until 2012.

    The German, who joined the team at the start of this season on a two-year deal, has impressed after taking two wins and is battling with his team-mate Mark Webber and Jenson Button for the world championship.

    Vettel's form, and the promise shown by Red Bull, has convinced the two parties to extend their deal further - with his new contract running until 2011. There is also an option on him for 2012.

    And that as they say is that. A contract till 2012 One that runs till the end of 2011 with the team having an option on him for 2012, which they are very likely to take. It should have been the other way round, with Vettel having an option for 2012, in my opinion. Being one of the rising stars, he will be in demand. Red Bull will be fast next year too in all probability, with rule stability and a team that has the funds and facilities, they will evolve this year`s car, but the other teams are very likely to catch them and with two of those big teams likely to run a clear number one unlike Red Bull, which should be appreciated, Vettel has effectively put himself out of a Ferrari drive for the foreseeable future. He is a kid without a manager and he has done very well for himself so far but with a canny manager he would have gotten himself a much better deal. Anyway, best of luck to him.

    Is it just me or does someone really find anything interesting in Vatanen`s election manifesto ? Todt has a much more comprehensive plans from what i have read so far and he is the front runner. Vatanan needs to come up with something special. The only thing he has going for him so far, and it`s a big this, is that he is an outsider who if elected might be good for the sport.

    Shouldn't they have dropped him already? He hasn't done much in the time he has been there. Of course, it's Hamilton's team but still one expects a fluke result here and there. Roseberg is a better choice, no? Heikki can go back to Renault if things don't work out for Grosjean, or if the rumours linking Kubica to Williams turn out to be true.
