    I don't think this race would be that easy on Brawn GP cars Button is having quite heavy understeering while a grid penalty makes it hard for Barrichello to do something extraordinary. Also for the first time in last few years I have seen cars bottoming out on any race track apart from Spa and that means during the race Safety Car chances are quite high.

    Hamilton did an amazing job to keep Vettel behind at the start what, with his extra 80 bhp off the line courtesy KERS, and starting from the cleaner side of the grid, yeah that must have been a tough job! Nevertheless, he drove a good race and it became easier once Rosberg, his main competition made the mistake of going over the kerbs and crossing the white line on the pit exit. The race was settled pretty much yesterday, when Barrichello crashed and destroyed Vettel, and Rosberg's last laps which would have put those two on the front row.

    Vettel was never in the hunt for the win today after he started behind Hamilton. He was pitting behind Hamilton both times and unless Hamilton made a mistake, Vettel was never going to be able to pass him on track. For me the jury is still out on Vettel. Is he a top driver? I don't know. Is he a very good driver, slightly above average but not exactly all that people make him out to be? So far i would say yes. He has made too many mistakes this season for my liking plus his team mate, Mark Webber, a journey man has never shone in anything leading up to F1, and was blown away by Nick Heidfeld, when they were team mates at Williams, has been matching Vettel pretty much through out the season. All this when he missed most of the winter testing because of his broken leg and some strange decisions by Red Bull during races.

    Button, who today officially changed his name to Jenson " Very Lucky " Button, is indeed that. Not only did he have the best car by far at the start of the season and Ross Brawn on the Pitwall, but seems he is fighting to win the drivers title against three mediocre drivers who are capable of winning races by virtue of being in a race winning car and all of whom refuse to do so. Any of the top drivers, Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Kubica or Massa in anyone of those cars would have gobbled up his lead by now and in all probability would have been leading the championship. Instead we have a situation where Button can now afford to finish 4th in all the remaining races even if Barrichello wins all three on the trot, something he has never done in his career. Barrichello needs another DNF from Button, in a race which he wins.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    Sutil reprimanded over Heidfeld crash

    Adrian Sutil was reprimanded and fined by the Singapore Grand Prix stewards after his crash with Nick Heidfeld.

    The two Germans made contact on lap 20 of the race when Sutil spun and tried to rejoin the race without stopping his car as Heidfeld was taking the corner.

    Heidfeld crashed into the Force India and was forced to retire.

    The stewards deemed Sutil had performed a dangerous move and reprimanded him and fined him $20,000.

    Sutil was also forced to retire four laps later.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    @UK

    Now I am looking forward to Kimi's move to McLaren and how Hamilton would react to that. A serious question now is who is developing the F2010 challenger because if Kimi is giving the input then it would mostly how he likes to see things works in a car which he would not drive and if Fisichella is giving input then it is a joke he can't handle this year's car how could he point out the problems. The real drivers who have to drive the next season's car are Alonso and Massa and both are not part of the development of next season's car until mid november.

    I too am looking forward to how things shape up at Mclaren once Raikkonen returns. It is not the Mclaren he left and is pretty much Hamilton's team now but if one person can get on with doing his job in that environment it's Raikkonen. He is oblivious to most things around him for the most part, he knows the team and is a very quick driver. He will not be affected by Hamilton's big mouth, and will get on with doing his job if the car is good enough. If the car is not competitive, Raikkonen will fade away.

    The Ferrari situation is not so complicated. With rule stability for next season, with the exception of a ban on refueling, they should be able to evolve this year's car. Engines are to be brought down to the same level which is a funny rule. Rather then allow other teams to catch up, FIA is going to ask Mercedes and even Ferrari to some extent as well to bring down their engine performance down to that of the weakest engine which must be either the Toyota or Cosworth.

    Fisichella could help develop the car. He has vast experience and the reason why he is struggling so much is because of a ban on in-season testing. In the time Raikkonen has been at Ferrari, i am quite sure he didn't have a lot of input in the development of the car. That is not his strong point and probably not the strong point of Massa either. Driver input becomes vital under two circumstances ; a) If you have a driver who is very good technically, b) When you have a car which has a problem or problems in a specific area or areas. That's where a driver who is technically sound is very helpful. Ferrari will have learnt a lot from this season and they will work on the areas which they know they need to. I don't know if Alonso's contract will allow him to test a Ferrari this season. A drivers input is very important, but I am sure Alonso and Massa will get enough time starting next year to help develop the car. In time, the car will be one that suits Alonso, and not Massa. If thats not the case why hire Alonso in the first place and that too at such a high cost, paying Raikkonen his entire salary NOT to drive for them and pay Alonso the same amount to drive for them.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.

    As we are heading to Suzuka for this weekend GP I think it is good time to show some of the development happened at the circuit although the development is mostly cosmetic and the circuit layout is the same as in 2006 when the last GP was held there. Also it would be exciting to see 9 new drivers driving first time on this circuit. New drivers are Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Romain Grosjean, Adrian Sutil, Sebastian Buemi, Jaime Alguersuari, Timo Glock, Heikki Kovalianen, Kazuki Nakajima.

    Alonso could earn 150m euros at Ferrari

    Fernando Alonso's new Ferrari contract could see him race for the famous Italian team until the end of the 2015 season and earn him 150 million euros, according to reports on Tuesday in the Spanish press.

    @UK

    Why Ferrari pay anything to Kimi lets see another possiblity Santander will join the Reds in 2010 and their demand is a Spanish driver which Ferrari could get but in return Ferrari asks them to find a place for Kimi and as Santander were about to sign a new agreement with McLaren they think a switchover is possible for Kimi because McLaren also needs a good driver alongside Kimi so they could replace Heikki Kovalianen. Just imagine the publicity Santander would get with sponsoring 2 top F1 teams and 4 top F1 drivers plus all 4 from different countries.

    Santander went to Mclaren because of Alonso, the duration of their contract is the same as was that of Alonso if things had worked out. The one remaining year they will stay with Mclaren is the same option that was in Alonso's contract too. Santander are keen to have him at Ferrari, and have agreed to pay half of Raikkonen's release money, i.e. £12.5 million. Ferrari have to pay the other half because his contract is with Ferrari. Raikkonen does not get them anything in terms of publicity. Santander would be keen to have Hamilton on the other hand. I don't know if they have any presence in Brazil though. Their main interest is in Europe and with Alonso. With Satander likely to become title sponsors of Ferrari, which will require more money, they will see out their remaining year with Mclaren before switching and concentrating on one team.
    Come back, Luca Badoer, all is forgiven.
