i really wish they really do s0oo.........they gotta cut the prices for about 100-200k to make their cars affordable at this stage of high interest rates , and economic crisis .

    @^
m not sayin the price r very high...
i would serious pay 17lacs for civic if the quality would have been much better

its not about the prices or the quality now...paki assembles cars were good in 90...but after 2000 the prices increased but the quality decrease...
a 1998 mehran had better brakes than of 2004...this is ma personal experience...a cousin of mine has both of them...the indicator colour in 2004 model is yellow with greenish shade...the ac went r 2 instead of 4...
we r getting less kit for the price payin

totally agree with @salman_m5 price getting down is good news to the consumer but still what the news ppl really look forward to his having better quality just as toyota corolla is off in the rest part of the world! better handling brakes airbags as standard with abs even susuzki japan alto has abs and airbags why not ours they cost roughly the same when new so why cant coroola for 13lakhs even give better brakes, tryes, built quality not cheap plastics, airbags as standard on all models and not just on driver side but passenger side also a civic cost 18 lakh and for wht! are we paying for compare a japenses alto to a pPakistan assembled one the steel and tin will show the handling and brakes will apper they look the same but why not same quality made by same manufacture! when imports were openned demand for locally assembled cars went down drastically santro was wipped out by vitz corolla was blown away by japanese corollas and priemo cause ppl do want better value for there money a healthy competition with locally assembled cars and imported cars would have made market more healther then the monoply nad nothing else to chose between a rolla or civic!

    mee toooo ,

i agree with u salman bro......

the quality is on its way of being the worst....

actually its our ignorant government who is responsible for it........

just imagine......a rolla base cost 15k in states..

and thats a 1.8 engine for you........for 12 lac PKR.....

then why the hell the price is touching 18 lacs here in Pakistan....for a 1.8 engine......on the road...

its the governments responsibility to create a healthy competition among our industry......

so here we have a 50% difference in price.....along with very cheap quality under spec cars........

go for japan assembled cars guys.......the local industry aint no gud ne more......

Ignoring car prices for the moment, what about fuel prices.

Did you guys see that article in Dawn yesterday (27th)

Last year, ex-refinery price for petrol was 40 and for diesel 43. Retail prices were 53.7 and 37.7.

Today, ex-refinery prices are 18.8 for petrol and for diesel I forgot. Retail, however, are 57.7 & 57.3

Going by absolute numbers, petrol should be 18+(53-40)=31rs
And by percentage, 53 is 33% more than 40, so the retail for ex-refinery@18 should be 18+33%=24rs

Petrol MUST reduce to 24~31 rs/L on January 1st, 2009...!

I know it'll be hard for IMs to reduce the prices but I'm confident it will be a sane thing to do to say the least .. with the same comes up a suggestion to all that postpone your plans of buying yourself a new car just yet as things might turn in your favour pretty soon..!!
