Oil is not the only source that keeps the piston from melting/seizing in a Air Cooled Engine, Heat plays a major role as well. When the cylinder bore/piston size increases the combustion gasses increase too due to the extra amount of air/fuel mixture burn meaning more heat is generated within the cylinder for the stock setup to handle.. temperature rises enough to a point where the engine parts fail to accomodate the extra amount of heat that is being generated therefore resulting in a overheat condition that causes the piston to melt/seize. either the piston skirt touches the wall of the cylinder or the ring end gaps meet. the exhaust side is more likely where the piston will seize once the engine overheats since thats the area that has to endure most of the combustion stress.

nice info yamaha135...bus awam ko thora easy language mai samjhaya karo.....inni technical to mujhe bhi 2 dafa perhni pari

    @ imran bhai...
bhai dekho piston jo hotay hain unki surface to specially treat kia jata hai to endure more stress...(heat treatments)..
jab apnay upar se katwaya to uska heat treated layer bhi chali gayi.....jis ki waja se piston heat ho ker sieze ho gaya

^^ a good reason for the engine seizure but are u ure the piston was heat treated ? or some special coating was applied?
