Default GS 150 NEW or OLD

    Salam Guys,

i have decided to buy Suzuki GS 150. There is one confusion though,,,, of all the comments i've read on this forum, i got the impression that the new models of GS 150 are not as good as the old one,.....

Kindly advise me which one should i buy... i have 2 options.

    1) buy the new model GS 150, in this case i will go with the installments option, 30k down payment and 12 month plan and it will cost me around 89K.

    2) buy the used model, in this case i will need suggestions of which model to buy and which model will be available at which prize...

kindly help out and also suggest any dealer for New/Used bike if you can... i will much appreciate your help in this process.....

    thanks all

Actually the original GS 150 that came in 2005 or else upto 2007 had some more body parts as compared to the new model.

like grill on silencer now absent in new model

plastic cover on stairing bolts , now absent in new

    better indicators ,

    metal covers near footrest

    good chromed mirros

these are the few things that came till 2007, now absent int 2008 and ownward models + the price of the 2005-2007 model was around 75000( with these accessories) now price of new model is 81000(without accessories)

but as far as engine and performance is concerned nothing changed.

I have one advice , plz do check ravi piaggio before u buy. or else read their thread. anyhow final decision is urs.
incase u decide to buy gs 150 dont go for the brand new as their will be a huge loss afterwards as it has very low resale. try to look for used models but they are hard to find in good conditions but u may get lucky

Whichever bike you buy, if you can afford it then get a new one. Just because older models were better doesn't mean the previous owner maintained it better. Remember, you will have to spend more time and put in more effort to maintain an old bike, maybe more money as well. If you like doing that then its OK, else go for a new one.

The quality of engine is the same between old and new models of GS150, my bike (2008) has never given me any engine trouble. I have never had any problem with the wiring as well.

The chrome work is not good on the newer models, you will have to take extra care for the exhaust pipe from the head to the silencer. The speedometer drive assembly in the front hub has known design fault, one has to take extra care and clean the speedometer cable periodically (3000-4000 km).

The consumption depends on the way you ride, it normally gives me ~45km/l and the last time I came to Abbottabad from Lahore I rode at 70-75km/h and did not exceed 80km/h (6,500 rpm), it gave me 52-53km/l.

Its the only bike in Pakistani Market with better quality compared to others. The ride is to cheer with !!!

Will recomend you to go for the new one the chrome accesories are available in market.

If you are concerned about the resale ... than CD70 is best for you. No need to think High [no offence ment] the riding pleasure is of a diffrent class.

Its Like the ppl who love Cars or love to drive cars own a HONDA and the ppl who want resale go for COROLLA (which comes with no breaks).

So if you need class in MotorBike GS150 is the only option in our Market --- Good Luck.

Fz16 is over-hyped bike. It only looks good with digital speedo and monoshock, but it lacks pickup. Also, pillion seat is too small.
Apache RTR 160 FI- Good bike if you like sporty ride position, but engine not very smooth. It has digital speedo, LED tailamp, powerful 160 cc and Fuel Injection for same rate. It has less weight, easy to handle. Best power-to-weight ratio. but mileage only about 50 km/L
Unicorn – Smooth engine. Smooth ride due to monoshock. Lacks style. No digital speedo and no LED tailamp. Mileage 55 km/L.
Pulsar – Oldest, but still has digital speedo and LED tailamp. Good pickup, but engine rough like apache. A bit too bulky and heavy. Mileage 50 km/L.
Suzuki GS150 – Smooth powerful engine, digital speedo and LED tailamp. Good looks. 6 gears. But a bit too heavy and bulky like pulsar. Mileage to be tested, but should give 50-55 km/L. At present, good bike for price. Wish it was lighter and had monoshocks.

yes disk brakes can be installed acurately and will work fine.

better you go to Ittehad Auto at McLoaed road and import yourself one pair. It will not cost you that much, but will give you a lot of mental satisfaction.
