hi
after using this forum i have come to the conclusion that it does have much information but most of the information regarding some regular checkups are very sparse.so i think that all such info be put at one place so that will help people take better care of their bike. and also not be fooled. by mechanics.
so regarding tuning ,i am putting some info hope other senior and knowledgeable users of this forum will update it and hopefully make it sticky ?
so what is tuning ?
depending on the mechanic its either fooling the user or "refreshing ur bike" by putting all the relevant settings in proper sync/settings.
which parts needs total replacement.
- air filter if it is used for say 2000 km depending on the bike condition and manufacturers specs . mostly it is replaced.
-engine oil ... also replaced after 2000-- to 2500 km.use good quality branded and recommended oil like shell's,caltex.
parts that need re adjustment
-- chain tension
-- spark plug cleaning and gap adjustment (plugs replaced after 4000 km.. according to my bike aka dyl yd 70)
--valve clearance aka tapped adjustment
--cleaning the relatively easily accessible areas of the crank case with a brush using petrol as the cleanser.
-- tightening of all the screws and replacement if some are slipped.
-- handle balance + greasing if it is dry
-- brakes adjustment ( or rarely a replacement of brake show after - 400- 5000km or as the need may be.)
-- brake light timing with pressing brakes
-- oiling the chain .. if it has been used in rainy days.
-- rechargin the battery
apart from the above things the most important thing that should be only handled by professionals is its carburettor .. it needs to be cleaned using compressed air rather then an all in one brush that mechanics use... so to guess if ur mechanic is good one indicator would be to look for a mechanic who has this facility in his shop.. personally i have experienced that cleaning using compressed air is much much better.. it really makes my bike run smooth.
for now its i think much and hopefully we will update it regularly as i have any new thing to share..
