Shell 20/50, provided it is the original stuff.

Edit: Have been pretty satisfied with the Castrol GTX 20w/50 as well.

castrol GTX 20/50 is best..........i used to apply in my CG,zzz.
MOST of the people buy caltex havoline from little oil shops or bike shops in 1 or quarter litre form.....but i noticed that the quality of 1 litre box is simply crap rather its 3,4 litre box......
and i also came to know by views of some mechanics, people that they only buy havoline due to its RED COLOR which looks great to their eyes.......lol
@yamaha135 i am using SHELL-HX5 for RX115......its looking fine to me.....what do u say on it?
which engine oil and air filter u use ? -91124

As long as it is 20w/50 and the original stuff, I am nothing but happy for the engine :-)

p.s. I have heard alot about Petromin oils being good but since I haven't had the chance to experience it 1st hand I cannot describe its true potential.

"i think the question is what oil filter and air filter u use."

    I use guard filters mostly,
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

"what oil and air filter do you use" is what I see in the 1st post, but in any case, stock filters for oil and air has been the 1st priority as far as I am concerned. why fix it when it aint broke?

Previously used caltex havoline. Now replaced it with petromin since last oil change.
    Oil filter is by honda.
    air-filter is by guard.
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them

i was asking about air filter and engine oil.. i have noted that the paper of honda air filter is very poor. because i used them twice and the ,paper js jaga filter ki body ka sath glued hotha ha wahan sa kch kch jagon sa nkla tha.. but i used another filter by hero and that is very strong .. even after discarding it i treid to push my fingers along the filter body at the point where the paper is glued and it neither unglued nor tore. ..

engine oil i have been using Shell [dnt know eact name of the particular brand but i just buy a can of .7 liter ] ,but most mechanics say that it is 2 nmber... so i wanted to change from shell.. and i will go for castrol GTX 20/50.. i will try to find it.. i think once i used havoline and that easily gave me 2k plus. and shell never goes abve 1.2k approx..

by the way whats the price of casrol gtx 20w50, and i have also heard that the 4 litr can's quality is better then .7 litr ? if it is the case i will definitly go fr it..
    thnks

I think some of the replies are about CARS, not motorbikes.

I use Caltex Havoline oil(black bottle) in my bike, I don't buy it from spares shops. I only get it from a good Caltex fuel station. It is API SG, 20w50 oil, and I change it every 1,000 kms. Whichever oil you use, get it from a well reputed petrol pump, not from spares shop. Do not use anything above API SG, (API SJ, SL, SM, etc.) those are for cars with catalytic converters.

Air filters for Suzuki are available from Suzuki workshops, since its made of foam, it can be washed and reused. I have not changed the filter yet, for over two years. Paper air filters sometime have problems. On my old Honda 110 (semi-circular paper filter) I have wrapped the filter with vacuum cleaner bag and put extra foam around the air intake hole. Buy the filter from main Honda shop and compare the quality.

could you please show me on the American Petrolium Institutes website where it says that? and where does it say SJ, SL & SM cannot and should not be used un later model bikes? (with or without cats).

hearsay from some "pump walla" does not make something a fact,.. afterall they are always trying to convince people to use "CNG oil"...

could you please show me on the American Petrolium Institutes website where it says otherwise????

"Pump wallas" don't print the manual that comes with a new bike, get one and read which grade oil the manufacturer recommends.
