    It depends on how much expert the worker is. Fabrication is an art and those who know how to handle it can do wonders.

    gpz orignaly was 440 cc.. and the new engine is 450 too..

    professionals help plz -147735 professionals help plz -147736

    my only concern is the chassis for now.
    look at the 2 picstures.. the silver one is the chassis that most of the bikes. almost all of the sports bike have. i have seen on the net..

    the second one is the kind of chassis we have brot. its of gpz 400 1983 model. do you think this chasis would work on the kind of bike we are building. the shape would be very much like the 2004 ninja 400. the guy is telling me that this chassis is of steel and much more stronger than the silver one. can you help?

    I am not sure if that chasis would be able to handle the weight of the engine you are putting on it. I think you should be looking for deltabox chasis, something like this:

    the chasis is of a 450 itself. so the mechanic is taking gurantee of that. but if that fits in nicely. do you think we shoud be having any further problems? for puttin fairing or anything? the gpz 400 1983 itself looks like a straight bike.

    for how much could we get a legal chassis of deltabox? can u give me a rough idea

    @poster its sounds pretty ambitious the reason is fitting different Chassis with a different engine the mounts in a engine are specially located according to the chassis and the weight transfer is also kept in mind. Even if he could do the mounts the weigh transfer would be erratic have u heard of rolling center of gravity which comes into play for the cornering specially in heavy bikes as you dont turn the handle as in a normal bike. so my best suggestion is that you go to the shop and discuss and also check how is he mounting the engine. Fitting the faring is not a big deal fitting the engine is the core issue and secondly if you engine is not well placed or fitted well it will cause your bike to roll in the corners and also the braking mechanism in heavy bikes depends on the weight shift from rear to front wheel if your engine is not shifting the load to the front wheel then u can end up with no traction on both wheel which will mean a serious fall. this lack of traction would be impounded by the slippery glassy roads of Pakistan. Thus in short yes u can build a sports bike on this chassis the question is would it be worth it ? or would it be safe? or would it be practical? and depending too much of bloody bike mechanics of Pakistan is really a rough call they have Zero education and just do thing out of thumb rules or generalization which is the prime reason for screwed up bikes here. i am saying this out of experience i had 400vfr a really cherished little pocket rocket and amazing design of its era specially built by honda for the competition purposes and the damn mechanics screwed up the 4 independent carbs which had to synced but they could not do it and in the end i studied the whole procedure and rebuilt my carbs from a set which i got from kabaria in khi and afterwards the bike ran like a Dream so in short if u want to do it well do it urself or atleast be clear of what is being done.

    @cyberjunj14

    I 2nd to @Xcaliber & wana add some comments. GPZ 400 1983 is typical street/Solo bike and building a super sports bike on street bike chassis is not a good idea on the other hand availablity of good ZXR 4's engine & if availble then its durability is big question mark so its better to stay away from this type of project & seek for some genuine 250 or 400 cc sports bike like FZR, CBR, or GSXR.

    yes i have read all the posts. and thanks alot for your advice..and to be honest the engine mounting and wights stuff goes totaly over my head. so im just reading articles here and there to get more information since i dont know much about these bikes and specs..

    il be geting the money back i had paid for the chasis. and then i wil be needing further help to build a bike from scratch. but before moving further i wanted to know the price of a delta box chasis for a 400cc bike. with all the legel docs and sources where i can find one.

    ok here is the suggestion for you call saleem bhai on this number and go to his shop and he will tell you which chassis are available with him 03002791183 he is the right guy for this he will have everything you need and he can advice in fitting too the better option would be to get the same engine whose chassis you have got and i would suggest getting a HONDA VFR 400 amazing little machine and u can get its chassis for only 40-60 thousand and the rest u can buy a great condition bike in UK and get it imported to Pakistan in parts and fit that in your bike the total cost would be less than 130Ks how does that sound.
