I am not sure if a 400 will consume less fuel compared to a 250. Even though the 250 will run on higher rpms compared to 400 but still I think the 400 will consume more fuel because of the bigger cylinders and wider intakes.

Since its going to be your first bike, I shall suggest to start with a 250 first.
    Good luck.

Somebody said the same thing to me 'from experience', turned out he was comparing a newish 400cc cruiser with an older 250cc sports bike. The difference shouldn't be large but 250 consumes less fuel than a 400.

asads01 Point is quite valid It also depends on type & health of bike.

Some of the mechanics preferd 400CC bikes (Sposrts model specialy 4 Cylinder) over 250cc coz maintaing 250cc is quite complex due to minature engine parts & less space for tools management so 400cc are bit more practical over 250CC.

However for same category & conditions of bike 250 cc must burn less fuel than of 400CC.

^it means the bike requires a complete overhauling. In my opinion it should not be above 40k.

150k is not high at all if the machine is awesome as you said. I'd suggest, go for it.
For those having real passion, slightly high price should not be an issue.

Can't say if that bike is really a 97 model, but looks in good shape. The owner says its a project bike, means its rebuilt.
About the CBR400 carbs, I cannot say about the availability for sure. A junk yard is a good option if its not available from market, sometimes you come across fine parts.

@s_zahaib I saw that gs 500e you told, have you checked it too?? have you ride it?? when I ride it bike was doing puk puk on high speed. you notice the strange sound from engine?? RPM is not working too. body wise bike is in ok condition but still 150k is high. but thankx for sharing the info. On the same night I saw another suzuki 750 and honda cb 750 but those bikes were huge really huge so left them.

I'm in touch with nadeem chikas and zeshan for bikes have you checked with them, i think they can help you in finding CBR's carb that bike can be a good project if you have time.

@s_zahaib bro honda cb 750 guy was asking 120k but that bike was in very bad shape have nothing of his own sub kuch custom made aur low quality tha suzuki 750 guy was asking 250k but that bike was also not very good body wise engine was ok. yes you are right abt that k nadeem expensive ha likeen phir os ka kam b bohat acha hota ha.Ali irani sa to bhai door he raho just met him 2-3 times and after that never went to him again. zeshan is a nice guy always charge reasonable rates but little slow in work but do reliable job, Bro my frnd today bought the bike gs500e you told in 150k as when we talked to zeshan he told us that he rebuild this bike which we confirmed from owner and he said the same, zeshan told us that the noise is of some daboo nothing else rpm will also start working just 3k-5k of work is required and that puk puk on high speed was due to the less petrol.

I got the p.m from member @voltage he said he can arrange the cbr's carb you should contact him if you are planning to rebuild the mighty cbr.
