Default In my 70cc I got 5th gear "maza" but lost 1st gear power

    Hi all.
Originally the Drive Chain sprockets were 14 and 41 teeth front and rear respectively.
I bought 17 (Rs 85) and 34 (Rs 180) teeth sprockets (Rs 100 labor) and now my motorcycle runs at much lower revs at the same speed. Each gear is one step higher. First is second etc. 4th is a true fifth. Great lower sound at high speed.
Lost hard acceleration. Got relaxed engine. Less oil churning means less energy lost in oil and more efficiency. Sometimes there is knocking in first gear. Im happy. Anyone want to try this? I ride at 40 km/h, now I do 50 with easy engine sound. Economy still 70 km/ltr there about. Need to remeasure.

sounds good but make sure engine crank and con rods are not stressed and are wearing out prematurely.

Im 44, not hot blood. So yes I ride without stressing anything and I love my engine.
It starts from zero without any problem. If throttle too low then knocking is heard on occasion.
Overall, Im just tooooooooo satisfied. I didnt like the high pitch and volume of 70 engine earlier. Now gears are like car gears. I never went above 40 due to engine pitch, now 60 is in reach.

With good clutch use, engine stalling will be avoided.

dear it means u just replaced the sprockets ? they put a lot of pressure on ur tiny engine so it cannot rev o its optimum nd this will destroy your engine very quickly.. i request u to add a honda cd 100 carburettor because the 70 carb is 15-16mm and the engine intake is 22 mm,, so by adding a 100 carb u will ge a true 70cc now it is hardly 60cc ,,
and thee aree 3 types of cd 100 carbs 1 is having a 18mm at engne side diameter another 20mm another 22 mm ,, use 20mm one,, that will not only give a good pick but also a bit safety with the new sprockets load,, cauze most ppl do it,,, hope u like it,,and the carb costs 1200 PKR ,,janyaaan honda cd100,,

u can use that as well because in theory the size of carb should mastch the size of the engine intake opening, and in 70 i think the opening is 20mm and 78cc bikes it is 22 mm ,, so u better measure the sie of ur intake and then install the carb of that size,, but again the 20mm has i think different main ket and slow jets then the 22mm,, and the jets of 20mm are stock ok for 70cc,, whareas those of 22mm are very large for it and u need to rejet it which desi mechanics cant do,, balka wo tho iss ko gunah samajtha hain,,, stock 22mm jets are 38 for slow and 102.25 for main jet,btw the 22m is also a bit expensive ,,

overloading the engine means it will loose its life quicker, gear ratios of first gear are for a purpose, having two persons and little bit of slope will cause serious difficulty , plus there will be extra load on connecting road ,which will wear it out quickly
engines life reduces more by overloading ,as compared to the hard acceleration

ur engine may suffocate feed it better using a 100 carb better mileage,, the small venturi carb cannot make the engine cope with such a huge load due to ur change of sprocket,, most people who go for sprocket change do change the carb for the longevity of their bike,,,

Thanks umer009 for your concern. Im just enjoying it too much to consider the negative aspect.
Lahore has flat roads, so I dont need hard acceleration.
Engine might get hotter than usual. But I drive slow anyway.
I think wear will occur if I take throttle to 75 or 100 percent. I never go above 50 percent.
I have ridden with a passenger and no problems. So far.
