I agree with the performance of the 2 stroke, but it has its issues.
On a previous thread How the Engine Works, I had posted this information:
Since the two stroke engine fires on every revolution of the crankshaft, a two stroke engine is usually more powerful than a four stroke engine of equivalent size. This, coupled with their lighter, simpler construction, makes two stroke engines popular in chainsaws, line trimmers, outboard motors, snowmobiles, jet-skis, light motorcycles, and model airplanes. Unfortunately most two stroke engines are inefficient and are terrible polluters due to the amount of unspent fuel that escapes through the exhaust port.
In the 2 stroke engine some of the fuel remains unfired hence there is more fuel consumption, pollution and getting fould plugs more often.

This is from an era before the sonic wave principle was used for scavenging and charging the cylinder. To reduce short circuiting of the mixture to the exhaust, you can see the inlet port opens in the rear cylinder (front of bike) below the exhaust port - but the transfer ports are in the forward cylinder (rear of bike) as the swept volume of the crankcase is acceptable for 175cc - the cylinder is filled by high velocity charge and prevents exiting the exhaust in raw form as it has to shuffle around the top of the cylinders. By the time it will reach the exhaust port - the piston on the exhaust port cylinder has already closed the exhaust port - and the mixture is compressed to be ignited. This setup provided good low end torque - more like a 4 stroke thumper but being a 175 2 stroke it was quite quicker than a 175 4 stroke bike of the same size. The downside is the rpm limit - too many moving parts and pumping losses.

Nowadays - 2 stroke transfer ports are wider with low velocity - with a little backward aimed additional transfer ports with a little stagger relative to the main rear front facing transfer port. causing the mixture to stall and sit on piston top This coupled with the sonic wave expanding in the expansion chamber tends to SUCK mixture from the crankcase via the transfer and boost ports into the exhaust and rams it back into the cylinder before the piston closes the exhaust port - effectively supercharging the cylinder, the pulsing back into the cylinder causes massive upwards swirling (if you notice the RX115 boost port is aimed upwards like most modern high revving 2 stroke engines with reed valve induction) - when the upwards swirling is happening more fuel/air is sucked from the reeds directly into the cylinder once again after the main transfer activity induced flow from the boost port to sweep out the cylinders top region filled with burnt exhaust. Thats why your Yam RX115 takes off like its a turbocharged bike at 5500 rpm. But this phenomenon takes serious rpms to get going.

In the older days like the PUCH - the sonic wave charging was not exercised as a proven technique to increase engine output - hence mechanical things were done like the twingle setup.

You are showing what is probably a really oldschool 2 stroke, yes the principle is the same to date, but additions like

Reed Valve induction (preventing carburettor backwash)
    Expansion chamber
    Exhaust rotary powervalve
    port stagger

All of the above working in harmony provide a very powerful output - the problem with the output is its very snappy, like a snake attacking as compared to a 4 stroke where the power is tractable - like a very big horse - slow but steady

the 2 stoke would be like - very hard to handle.
