Question Project Dhoom YD 70 Upgrade to 110cc

    hi
as the title suggests.. i have undertaken this small project.. so far i have made my bike partially ready.. here is what i have done so far..

    1:installed a 4 wheeler Cylinder of 107cc capacity
2: and a corresponding Cylinder head..

both the things were just bolt on fit.. no new timing chain was needed..
i also upgraded to an after market china carburettor that comes for qingqi 100cc rickshaw.. did nothing to the jets ..mixture is a bit rich but proper setting is needed.current jets are unlabelled. however from spark plug reading mixture is in acceptable range...

So far results are quite decent...pick is increased . very much..it reaches speeds of 80 in fairly short time..top speed is 90 but it severely vibrates past or close to speeds at 80. current sprockets are 14/41 default..
    UPDATE [17/06/2012]
after i added the clutch box and sprocket was changed to 15/41 top speed is 100 and no vibrations..
the new 110cc head is exactly the same as of the chonda 70 only difference is the size of combustion chamber which is slightly enlarged for the 52.4mm cylinder as opposed to the 48mm chamber of chonda 70.. The intake valve is 23mm and the exhaust valve is 20 mm.same values as of default cylinder head of dhoom 70. silencer is the same old of dhoom 70..

Now i need suggestions/verifications as to what should i do to make it a bit faster.. in-fact not faster but to make the gears longer as at speeds above 60 (definitely in 4th gear) it seems as if it needs to be shifted to next gear..

Now, one mechanic suggested me to use the following
1: qinqgi clutch gear..and he said it costs 800-900 rs in new.. DONE
2: and also to upgrade to 3 discs/plates clutch boxa...( infer for yourself
    what he meant.) DONE
3:someone also suggested me to open the ports ( portain khuli kara lain) [To be done]
4: replace the paper type filter element with a foam type ,, [To be done]
will make a video about the project on what i have done so far.. in a couple of days. and rearrange this thread..

also suggest a good mechanic..in pindi islamabad..

    thanks..

Following pic show the scale next to the centre line of a 110cc combustion chamber ..my readings using vernier scale were as follows.
the inner circle is of 40mm dia same as in dhoom 70 chamber
the outer is of 52mm dia , 4mm bigger then the chamber of dhoom 70
depth is same for both..at the center line..

110cc cylinder installed.. along with a piston. the piston was partially seized but the mechanic who installed it said it is ok.. many mechanics also said so.. however rings were new. of STR.. the rings which i bought were for 150 rs and they were of zero number from united 100cc bike..(that bike in reality is a 110cc)

Piston at TDC. not the piston was flat shaped but there was too much compression.. so we tapper cut the piston.. that's why the piston looks pretty old at centre and clean at the edge... this pic was take after this piston did some 20 Km ...

i wont recomend doing anything to 72cc bikes.. *as they have toched the limits... bore and stroke ratio is very important . too much skewed value of this ratio is not good.. with stock chonda the bore is already way to much compared to stroke .. *so if u increase the bore u wont gain much in my opinion... increasing stroke would mean a lot of changes . and may be still those changes wont be bolt on fit.. u would still need to do alteration inside engine for the bigger parts to fix..
Yes i am following your conversation on that thread as well. Very technical though most of it mera upper sa ghuzar jata ha due to my non technical back ground but thanks. 72cc ko upgrade kerna ka faida nahi as i understand from your post.

    @ asjdsm
started it for 3 seconds than it needed to be turned off because exhaust valve was sounding "tick tick tick" i new it i have set them on TCD of intake stroke rather than TCD of compression stroke .
then i set it again its ok .
i will check its torque tomorrow . i think it may have lost a little bit of compression because of insearted thread(spark plug holder) .

    hi
my bike was leaking for some time so yesterday decided to change its gains (? gaskets actually) .. so i opened the engine .. as the piston was shaved a bit because when i used stock dhoom head with it the piston was touching it .. so that portion of piston was removed.. later i found a 110cc head and continued to use that altered piston..

so yesteday decided to purchase new piston bought one of str company for united 100.. and fitted all bike again.. (that piston was same dimensions as old so no need to bore etc ) ... first i used the fiber gasket b/w head and cylinder but again this piston was touching it as the dia of taht fiber gasket was a approx 1.5mm less the bore of cylinder and a portion of that gasket was protruding into cylinder .. and piston was touching it . so i bought united 100's gasket that one is metallic one but was very thick ..that were few metalic plates..... i reluctantly installed that (as that was very thick and i feared the loss of compression ) and now though bike is ok and running like a champ .. but still its not making good compression .. its compession may be b/w 8.5 or 9 to 1.. which is low .. i want at least 9.5-10 to one.. one solution is to use very thin head gasket but i cant find that in market .. ppl make custom fiber gaskets but that has no metalic ring on inner side of the bore so that will damage the piston .. another alternative is to find a suitable piston which has doom shape .. as current piston is totally flat top one with no piston pockets ..

so my eyes are on suzuki sd110 piston which is just 53.5mm .. wheareas curent one is 52.4mm so i think it will be possible to overbore the cylinder to accomodate it .. but the question is whther the suzuki piston is flat top one like current or doom shaped ? if its flat shaped then its useless to put that .. has anyone seen it? anyone near suzuki shop etc can get me a pic ?

any other bike in pakistan jiska bore 52.4mm sa ziada ho our 55mm sa kam ho ? i will try to check if its possibel to install that one..

    Thanks

yesterday i searched the market and checked the suzuki piston it was available in two shapes one was flat top one with raised one with pockets also it was a bit raised if both were measured from the wrist pin.. was a good candidate but its wrist pin was 14mm wheareas standard chonda con rod small end has 13mm hole.. and needs 13 mm wrist pin ..

so i also found another piston that was of max100 and it was 200 number .. it had 13mm pin but it was very long piston . though top was abit raised like suzuki piston but it had long skirt .. and it was typical 2stroke type of piston .. whats the max100 bike btw? it was having 54 mm dia..

... for the time being i am happy with current config .. but when next time i get opportunity i will probably use next oversize piston of united 100 and use thiner gaskets custom made.. current gaskets are 1.2mm for cylinder base gasket and 1.8mm for the cylinder gasket .. custom gaskets can be made for both base and head .. with minimum thickness of .5mm for base (paper type) and 1.2mm for head gaskets in gawalmandi ..

hope this will up some compression and get a good bang from a stroke of piston also i may shave the head a bit to increase Compression Ratio but thats when i do next..

    poray bike ki ?
kia karna ha.. andar engine ki pics post ki hain. that matters.

and still no change in engine... just piston was replaced with un shaved one as that was old and shaved one ..

cause i replaced the gaskets .. so changing piston was just a matter of unlocking a mobile phone screen.....

did it all in under one hour..

bila waja tho ma hero hero nai kahtha na... and jab main kahtha hou ka mujha hero ka carb chaia .. then it means it has some juice..

    hero is very good bike..

but one thing it may not be 72cc .. it will be 78cc one ... as these companies try to reduce duties/taxes by under labelling it.. i thnk one mechanic told me that its con rod is same as other 78cc chondas that means its stroke is 49.5mm not 41.4mm of 72cc.. so it may very well be the 86-88cc bike in reality..

i have seen a 2007 CD70 doing 100kmph with double but never got the chance to match its meter with other bike to rule out meter error....
