    Default Chain wax

Hi guys i want to use some chain wax on my gs150 chain but i am unable to find any shop in pindi that sell this product as this is an enthusiast product and only used by a few people.

I also want to get some air filter oil as motor oil or gear oil are not as effective in trapping the dust from my bike's air filter foam.

My question from the experts at pakwheels is that are there any bike shops in islamabad or rawalpindi that sell chain wax and also air filter oil?

me too interested in wax ..
hoewver some one on this forum once said to mix engine oil with grease..
i mixed virgin havoline 20w50 engine oil with Aloo grease ( cheapo cheapo grease cost 40 rs for one cup equivalent qty.. non branded ) .. no specific raio was used just mixed little oil with grease .. the mixture was still thick but not as thick as the grease alone.. applied on chain.. it was good no noise but after few days it was bak to its usual conditon so it nees to be re applied..

u can try just applying castrol grease to it ,, un mixed with engine oil and try it if it works .. as that grease is for fast and hard rubbing things.. like bearings .. that costs 250 rs for a cup barabr mikdar..

i will try it when all of my current potion is used up..

You can get chain lube at Makro or Metro and all industrial parts/lubes places. Do not use any oil/grease combo as it makes the chain heavy to roll. The spray lube used to cost Rs 300/- in 2007. one can goes a long way.

For air filter foam oiling, two stroke oil is the best.

You can get chain wax/lube from Ryders showroom in rawalpindi. Close to cinepax/mcdonalds/askari10.

Out of curiosity, I googled Ryders rawalpindi and got this link:

    https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/whe...8-ryders-visit

I got there number from the above link and asked for chain lube price.

If I heard it correct the price is Rs. 2500 for a 300 ml spray can. .
I think somebody wrote some where previously that some chain wax are available at hyperstar LHR for 200-300 max. I couldnt get a chance to go to LHR.

I would stick to some thick gear oil as in the chain lube price of 2500 I can get three chains for my cg-125.

This chain lube looks good for naked chain super bikes.

According to my knowledge options should be like these for chain oiling

    1) Use chain wax spray.
    2) Use thick gear oil.
    3) Grease
    4) engine oil

Grease may be an option but it is very difficult to clean at next oiling and all the dust gets stick in it making it black. Engine oil is thin and flings off soon.
I only use gear oil with paint brush after thoroughly cleaning the chain and am quite satisfied with it.

If you are happy with the grease then its fine. I think I used grease twice for chain. My observation was that each time it was very difficult to clean it afterwards, and the dust gets stick to it too soon.

    Prices:

PSO gear oil GL-4 EP140 310/ltr (plastic can).
In GL-4 there is also EP85w-140 but I can not get its price form their online catalog

They also have multi grade gear oil EP 85w-140, EP 80w-90 in GL-5 range but the quoted prices were for drums.

ZIC gear oil 1ltr is of Rs 450 approx. I think its synthetic.

I had 1ltr bottle of Total (white color) but I have forgotten its price as I purchased it more then a year ago. I think it was around 250.

    which compny is it ?

    alway use chaincovers..
i m using low quality grease working fine.. better then both fresh or used engine oil.. chainm is very smooth no sounds..

though i will try some quality grease from caltex ..(original)

if u want to remove it.. use dry cloth to remove as much as possible.. then wet a new cloth with petrol and rub on the chain it will come as brand nw.. but then apply sufficiet new engine oil..

Are there no industrial shops in your city? these chain lubes are very common and cheap too one can works for a looooong time

can ryders explain their cost justification for this price?? they are charging 10 times the price, its not that its overly special or coming with a something free or is being delivered to your doorstep. I fail to understand how can such businesses expect to survive if they charge such money.

I have also ran a business but always kept prices in check for any part being sold from my "sales invoice" just to ensure that the buyer does not feel duped if he/she buys that something from elsewhere.
