Post Pakistani Bike Required for a Longer Journey

I have been going through a lot of threads regarding the best available bikes in Pakistan and I believe that members of Pakwheels have good knowledge about Pakistani Bikes. I would like to request you to give me an honest opinion regarding the bike one should purchase for longer routes:-

Note:- I am planning to travel the whole country on Bike. (Highways, Dirt Tracks, Bumpy Roads etc)

    Bikes Under Consideration:-

    Suzuki GS150
    Honda CG125 Deluxe
    Ravi Piaggio

and plz also let me know about the tools one must carry while going on a longer journey on bike. (e.g. inflator, ___ spare parts)

I would really appreciate your resposne

    Best Regards,

    Waqas Ahmad

^^ For the long tour keep her simple ----IMO: just make sure you get a good quality back tyre -- cause the one which comes factory fitted --- not enough for your tour plan.

hahha --- Boy --- Go for your LOVE then ---- We all LIKE almost everything but LOVE one

according to the routing you are planning in the main page of this thread --- Honda stands no where with GS150.

    GS 150 any day
i have owned three zero meter 125 classics and have travelled pretty long distances over it. there is no doubt that the bike is reliable like anything, but its way too tiring to drive it. too much vibration, super stiff seat. Honda 100 is way better than it in road grip and comfort. so for your journey, nothing like Suzuki GS 150 (get in black..its hot )

As kamran said, get a good width tyre and thats it. No other mods needed as such.

for longer travels bigger engines rides were recommended .. but in Pakistan you don't have any option bigger then 150 . at least it's 25cc bigger in power then the other two mentioned. go only for gs150 Suzuki... this is bigger is frame and hight , have self start which is a plus .. CG works for rushy areas to cut the distance in between traffic

below 400cc and older than i think 10 years bike cant go on motorway ... @poster,the best bike for you would be Suzuki GS500,u can get it in Pakistan easily, above 400cc,not older than 10 years,so you can travel on motorways as well but fuel consumption could be an issue

Brothers I have both cg125 and GS150 at my home. Let me be very clear that GS150 is better than cg125 in all aspects. But if you are thinking of touring whole Pakistan and you are not a very technically sound person then get CG125. You will be able to find its mechanics and spare parts at maximum places in Pakistan. Few months ago my GS150 had a leaky fuel filter. The nearest shop that had it in stock was at Mclore road. And this I am talking about Lahore. So just imagine what will happen if God forbid you need a spare part say on GT road or at Indus Highway or at Northern Areas or at some small town??

But if you know mechanics of bikes and can repair it yourself and DIY where ever needed then GS150 is the bike to take on such tours. It has a rock solid engine and is very, very comfortable.

Personally I prefer taking CG125 to long trips simply because I do not know much about bike mechanics. So I have peace of mind that I can find parts and mechanics at maximum places in Pakistan. I think even road side puncture walas can, to some extent, work on a CG125.

Whatever bike you choose, i suggest taking a crash course in bike DIY. Put on some old jeans and T-shirts, buy a box of mithai and take to the M/bike mechanic you get your work done at. Offer the mithai to the Ustaad and request to be given a crash course to learn some basic DIY that would help you along the way. Mechanical help is available along the way but not everywhere. e.g if you are traveling on the KKH there are sections where you won't find any inhabitant for miles..maybe a lone shepherd tending to his sheep and goats but i doubt if he would be much help if you have a fouled spark plug

On the list of things to take please include a reflective jacket. You can find good chinese jackets at Metro or you can source good ones with 3M reflective stripes from abroad. It is important to be noticed so wear at all times when on road.

    Good luck
