Default Which brake is best Disc or Drum for 125cc Bikes ?

    Salaam to All

I'm going to purchase the 125cc bike which has the front disc brake option in it in the next coming month Inshallah, but I have one confusion that which front brake option is more suitable and reliable for 125cc bike. I have asked the same question from many people including bike's mechanics mostly people recommended me the drum brake and they didn't technically answer my question they are saying that disc brake is for those bikes which have heavy body structure not for the light body bikes and there is a chance of falling down from the bike if you apply the brake tightly on 60 km/h. So please help me to get the best option. Thank you

well i would take disc brake over drum brake anyday.....
once you get familiar with it.... you will understand how much you need to press it depending on the situation.... and yes, applying full disc brake on light body bike over 60Km/h is stupidity....... anyone with some sense of physics would never do that....
Disc brake would give better control of bike and you need to pull it so softly to get the desired response.....
I wish i had disc brake in my Junoon....

    Default drum vs disc

Front brakes, either disc or drum ... are very vulnerable and should only be used in cases of extreme emergency. There are many reasons but I can think of the following

    1) Normally the bike tyres are not "wet" tires (wet tyres are a type of tyre with more grip in water/rain etc) so if you apply front brake (whatever type) you have more chances of getting your bike slip

    2) You bike is not in the upright position and you are slighty tilted to left or right and you apply front brake (whatever type), you will definitely slip

Hence people and mechanics tend to advise drum brakes because

    a) They are NOT spontaneous (will not jam the tyre instantly like Disc brake)
    b) Since you are already using DRUM brakes on rear tyre, you are more confortable with that and chances are that in case of emergency where you need to apply front brake, either you will push it very hard or very soft and it will not serve the purpose

Thats all I can think of right now

which 125cc bikes are u talking of ?
btw disc ofers more stopping power..and they are much better then drum for 125cc bikes..

when braking u should use both front and rear brakes simultaneously and remembere front brakes offers 70 % stoping power.. thats y most bikes if they hasve disc brakes doi it on front..

I would go for front discs as they have great stopping power and are ventilated so do not get overheated unlike a drum brake and is more durable and has longer life due to less heat production
