head injury on the torn-up road next to Data Darbar. He recently came back to Pakistan
from Qatar to see his newly-born baby boy. A few old friends visited him at his
residence, when they were leaving he decided to escort them back, just as a token of
respect to his old buddies (this is the kinda person he was gregarious and generous).
At around 12:30 AM on Monday, on his way back to his home, the tyre of his bike
stumbled upon a brick or stone near Data Darbar road construction site. He tripped and
fell on his head. At that time he was conscious, two guys were standing there they
helped him and admitted him to Mayo hospital and then he was reffered to General
hospital Lahore. Later he went into coma, and today after 6 days he met the Almighty.
This is the loss that we have suffered, but the reason I wanted to share it with all of
you is that this tragedy could have been avoided, if my brother had been wearing a
helmet. As you all know that most of the roads in Lahore these days have been torn
apart, there are puddles of water with deep ditches everywhere, bricks and stones are
dispersed on all major roads near construction sites, but we can't blame the Government
for that, they are doing something constructive on their part, and being a responsible
citizens of a civilized country we are supposed to perform our part too. It is my
request to all bikers in Lahore especially those who travel on these roads everyday to
wear a helmet. It is for our own safety. Most people don't wear it because the weather
is still hot, but you are risking your life. The stakes are too high. Between comfort of a few minutes and your life I am sure you will choose your life 10 out of
10 times. But we never pay attention to these basic safety precautions, because we never see anything bad coming our way.
Our brain is a very sensitive organ, and all that protects it is our skull. A helmet works as a barrier between the skull and the force of impact no matter how cheap in quality it is. So please, do wear helmets. Strap it up to your chin properly, don't just put it on your head
like a cap. We feel safe because we think it would never happen with us. But God
forbid, when it happens it happen in seconds, you will have no control over the events
and their consequences. But right now we can protect ourselves from a pending tragedy.
A helmet could make the difference between an ordinary accident and a life-threatening one.
Please do share it with all your loved ones and recite Fatiha for my brother. May his
soul rest in eternal peace. Aameen!
