Smile Kindly Share your bike's GPS speed

    Hi everybody,
For long time, i had the doubt that bikes 100cc and below usually show much higher than actual speed on the meter.
So today i decided to check my Junoon's meter with my HTC GPS speedometer and i was ready to see about 10Km/h error at high speed but result was much more shocking.
I took the bike to 90Km/h and my pillion friend holding my mobile reported that i am going at 76Km/h only i was shocked to hell, so i told him to hold on and then raved the ***** out of bike , was able to do 110Km/h (on a slight slopy road) but my friend reported again that i am actually going at only 90Km/h according to mobile GPS.

Severely disappointed to know the inaccuracy of my bike's meter and also to know that usually when it is maxing out at 90Km/h, it is actually doing only 76Km/h.
    So
Bike meter 90Km/h= 76Km/h actual speed
Bike meter 110Km/h= 90Km/h acutal speed

So if anyone of you has ever checked your bike's meter with GPS , kindly share it here so that everybody can get the idea of which bike is actually doing the real speed instead of just showing it on the meter.....
Kindly do speed tests in controlled environment only (preferably on some empty road outside the populated areas), and please must wear the helmet at least before you unleash your rides.

PS: I have matched my mobile's GPS speedometer with Car's meter and it shows exactly same speed as on the car's meter so no doubt about its acccuracy. By the way my bike has Alson's speedometer which i think is considered more accurate.
Below is the screenshot from mobile showing maximum achieved speed aka 90Km/h. App name is "Ulysse Speedometer"
Tip to take screenshot in Android: Press and hold down power button, and then press the home button, screenshot will be saved to your camera shots folder.

yes bro, i used "Ulysse Speedometer"
U can install this Speedometer app on your nexus s and use it as you would use your google maps. You open the app , GPS will turn on if it is not switched off from settings, and then as you move it will show you speed accordingly. You can even launch this app and put your mobile in pocket, have a ride and then check the mobile, app would have noted the max you touched during this ride as showing 90 on above screenshot.

well well well ...same thing i did on my E5-00 few days before using the GPS data ... used the stock app in the handset and i was shocked too .. but not very much ...
i own a ravi piaggio ....on my way back to Gujjar Khan ..i checked the top speed via GPS while my piaggio's meter was showing 125 KMPH ..the gps showed 115... i was pretty much disappointed but now im not :p
    after knowing the gul's result
i always had a doubt on these meters ...coz a friend of mine use to reach 120 kmph on his habib lol :p i have came to a conclusion , that its a Marketing tactic .. companies put in a bit fast meter ...just to catch attention of speed enthusiast peolple...
and all of the chonda's have these kind of meters ........

Hmmm, still dear, regardless of what piaggo shows on meter, 115Km/h is still very good speed for a 125cc with 112Kg weight. But have you ever matched that stock app with any car's meter??
And LOL at habib doing 120Km/h, my junoon meter is inaccurate, but still when i am at 90Km/h (on meter), no 70cc come close to it.... so imagine the inaccuracy on these chondas....

try like this .. first get it locked on max setellites . then find a good road patch straight 5 km at least .. now start ur bike and as soon as it hits a reasonable speed then turn on the gps tracking .. dont look at teh avg speed .. look at what is shown..
    also gps uses some ..

that is shocking difference ... i will try when i get opportunity ..

Gull bhai .. you Jonnoon can do better then that, remove a pillion rider and get your bike comression tested ... you will really reach at least 100.

beside there is a small booklet if you buy a genuine Alsons meter it explicilty tell the error rate expected by the speedo meter.

If i remove the pillion rider, then on highway i can do 100Km/h on meter (that is 83Km/h actual speed). And compression is good, i have to put quite a bit of energy to kick it sometimes. And as far as the matter of doing real 100Km/h, i will have to do 125Km/h on meter and that's kind of impossible on Junoon.
Let's see Automotorsport's Junoon kia result daita hai...
Do test this app on your piaggio if you can
