Smile Kindly Share your bike's GPS speed

    Hi everybody,
For long time, i had the doubt that bikes 100cc and below usually show much higher than actual speed on the meter.
So today i decided to check my Junoon's meter with my HTC GPS speedometer and i was ready to see about 10Km/h error at high speed but result was much more shocking.
I took the bike to 90Km/h and my pillion friend holding my mobile reported that i am going at 76Km/h only i was shocked to hell, so i told him to hold on and then raved the ***** out of bike , was able to do 110Km/h (on a slight slopy road) but my friend reported again that i am actually going at only 90Km/h according to mobile GPS.

Severely disappointed to know the inaccuracy of my bike's meter and also to know that usually when it is maxing out at 90Km/h, it is actually doing only 76Km/h.
    So
Bike meter 90Km/h= 76Km/h actual speed
Bike meter 110Km/h= 90Km/h acutal speed

So if anyone of you has ever checked your bike's meter with GPS , kindly share it here so that everybody can get the idea of which bike is actually doing the real speed instead of just showing it on the meter.....
Kindly do speed tests in controlled environment only (preferably on some empty road outside the populated areas), and please must wear the helmet at least before you unleash your rides.

PS: I have matched my mobile's GPS speedometer with Car's meter and it shows exactly same speed as on the car's meter so no doubt about its acccuracy. By the way my bike has Alson's speedometer which i think is considered more accurate.
Below is the screenshot from mobile showing maximum achieved speed aka 90Km/h. App name is "Ulysse Speedometer"
Tip to take screenshot in Android: Press and hold down power button, and then press the home button, screenshot will be saved to your camera shots folder.

I'm very much interested in checking speed via GPS.
It shows 115+ kmh on speedometer on a down hill & also doing fully head down.
Which looks rubbish sometimes. But on straight road it does 100kmh mostly & sometimes 105kmh with pillion rider.
110kmh on straight road by doing head down.

And as far as the matter of doing real 100Km/h, i will have to do 125Km/h on meter and that's kind of impossible on Junoon.
Let's see Automotorsport's Junoon kia result daita hai...
Do test this app on your piaggio if you can
Also adding as your bike is new roughly 8K km on odo, there are no compression issues

devil bhai Actually 8k is not the matter, actually some time our beloved "Hathora" mechanic sahab valve ki setting "Late Firing" ya "advance firing" position per ker detay hian jisay valve compression lose ker rha hota hai ... so ager bike new ho or redline na ho rhi ho tu its a indicator of bad valve tuning or wrong mixture setting.

I havent used junoon but heard that it does go ~95+ so I think on slight downhill or when the wind direction is in favor it can really go to 100kmh but gull bhia tu usko 90 tak nahi lay ker ja pa rahay ... We want more junoon riders here who can try it.

This GPS is new Thing and really takes my attention, when My bike was new I synced it with GS500e, and my car and many time I shared my experience that in standard condition it goes 110kmh (real 110kmh) and on Favored Winds I have maxed to 115 (meter was showing Error rate of 10+km that mean 120 when i was on 110 and 125~130 when on 115).

I am interested to do it with GPS but I have a very old paiggo with worn off Clutch and retarded ring/Piston with only 9PSI where it is supposed to have 11+PSI but bike is not blowing its just working hahaha .... but goes to 100 at a very slow acceleration on long roads, but stil I asked Nom1 to join app and we can test his Yamaha and paiggo together it would be FUN. this weekend.

Let see may be we find out that my old lady do not go more the 80kmh too ah ahhahah h a h ah hah ha hah ahha ....

gps shows the real potential of bike .... owner manuals states the correct top speed of bike despite its meter ... inaccurate speedometer are allowed by law in most countries... generally a variance of up to 10% is allowed ....so it doesn't matter which brand meter is installed ... they all do it on purpose ... some less, some more ...

Brother all you have heard is from meter readings, and talking about meter reading, with some wind support my junoon goes to 100 just fine

Well that confirms it then, because "ahsenz" also said same thing. So Piaggio can really do 115Km/h.

never used iphone, but why don't you just search "speedometer" in app market and see what comes on top, read some comments , that will give you the idea if app is worth it or not...

Yes it does really go hi speed .. but lacks in acceleration very badly ..

It would be really nice if some one try GPS on Brand new Paiggo...

    Nice Thread!

I synched my bike's speed with GPS LONG LONG LONG time ago... I have a CG125 my bike meter was showing close to 90-95km/h but GPS ( Sygic : Mobile Navigation ) showed 110+ ( I've forgotten the exact figures ). This HUGE difference is because I've installed GLOWING LED NEEDLES on stock meter that are heavier than stock ones...

Next time, I'll sync with the application you mentioned and post results...

Below is the picture of needles i installed...
