If this CD70 is a Contact Breaker Point Version (and not a CDI), then its under the magnet (on the left side of the engine) you'll find a contact breaker point. That needs to be in a proper position. I don't know how that is set to its proper position.

    what is distributor ?
these bikes controle the timing through timing chain only .. and retarding/advancing is done only through the chain . on the sprocket on the head ..

one can change ignition timing also in bikes, as per requirements advanced or retard
i know only my 2stroke king by moving magnet plate clock wise will have advance in timings and by moving counter clock wise one will have retard timings......exact distance isnt in books but one can have it by doing several experiments....
in retro bikes, there were also marked indications of retard, standard, advance by manufacturers on magnet plates surrounding area.....

if your bike has the CB points and centrifugal advance cam on the magneto you need a strobe timing light to check timing pointing it on the magneto where the magnet plate TDC mark is. It is adjusted by loosening the points and moving it towards or away from the rubbing cam.

If you have an electronic pickup and centrifugal advance then you can move the pickup coil. If you have a 2 stroke with electronic CDI then your ignition timing is fixed and advances only when the rpm gets to a certain point where the advanced timing kicks in.

Its a 2011 70 CDI one. I want to change the timing because its knocking on idle and low rpms. I've cleaned the spark plugs, carb, air filter, fuel filter, even adjusted the tappets according to specs but no good. Its only got 8000kms on it.

No distributor, only current coil.. these are single piston bikes bhai
And forget the knocking.. these are our 1970's bikes with F u c kin low quality engine oils in them! Nothing strange! Buy a CG125, try to pull it on 2nd gear from low speed and you will come to know what knocking really is!!

cd70 ko kuch nahi hota, chalta hai! In winters it happens... stable idling is always an issue with motorbikes! When cold these dont idle properly... Check for knocking when engine is fully warm, if it still knocks then get its tappets adjusted.
