    Default Why don't they have rear wheel disc breaks in bikes?

    i have seen most of the bikes with front wheel disc break but why don't they put in only on rear wheel . i mean bike ki shape se yeh to nai lagta k wo app ko front wheel pe jump karwana chahtaty hein..

    Well to put in a nutshell Bike have a higher center of gravity to wheelbase ratio so they tend to experience more weight transfer, you must have noticed that when you brake quickly in the car you tend feel to feel the g-force pushing you forward the same happens in a bike but alot more,so when you brake hard most of the weight goes to the front of the bike , so that means the front of the bike has more load to stop thats why they have mostly disk brakes on the front.The rear brakes are only to balance the bike so it doesnt do stoppie =P hope that help

    When one applies the brakes in the bike; scientifically he should follow the following percentage:

    For Front Wheel, brake application is 60% of total brake.
    For Rear wheel brake application percentage is 40%.

    So it clears the fact that how much the front break is important and so the dics are installed on the front wheel of a bike.
