Bandit400 is 4 cylinder, GS500 is 2 cylinder so there is no comparison between the two bikes, both are class apart. You may consider your priorities, if you want very quick throttle response, speed and thrill then Bandit is what you should be looking for. If you are looking for some style with fuel economy and long rides then GS500 is the best one there is.
    good luck,

And yes, bandits are known for leaking fuel from carbs, which can be quite a nuisance sometimes..

Bandit 400 would smoke out a GS 500 as its an inline 4 racing oriented naked bike on the other hand gs is a 2 cylinder commuter.ur call

    salamz.

    bandit 400 is inline-4, DOHC, 16 valves
Gs500e is 487 cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled parallel twin, DOHC, 2 valves per cylinder

if you want sporty short and powerfull rides then go for bandit..it also sound very sweet
if you want ease of riding for long rides and economical fuel consumption go for gs500

somewhere round 2000 or 2001, suzuki decided to drop E from gs500's name, there is no other significant difference, except that older models are gs500e and newer without e

newer models got f so its a GS500F (with complete lamp and body fairing plus it got an oil Cooler gril in front too)

if you are referring to GS500 from 80s it was a retro style inline 4 motorcycle still can be found in collectors pocket. its a classic.
