    Cool My first Beast

By the Grace of ALMIGHTY ALLAH, i have purchased my first beast.
Suzuki GS500E 2001 Model in neat and clean condition.
I purchased this bike from a pakwheeler.
Following are some things which i will be doing with this machine
    1. Round Head light of GS150 (Crystal One)
    2. Exhaust pipe work as it kisses on speed breakers.
Suggestions and advice are welcome from fellow members and owners of this beast.

Or if you dont want to spend that much money on the fairing then getting them made out of fibre glass is also an option, but a keen eye can tell the desi fairing from an imported one. If you can source products through ebay or you know someone who can do it for you then you might find real bargains on ebay when it comes to fairing..........I wish had a PayPal account

Default Advice Needed For Bike Purchase please!

Greetings, I am interested in buying a new bike for myself. At present I have a Honda CD-70. I have used it for 5 years - with its engine remade twice during this period! However, of late, I need an upgrade in engine power to get to and from work quicker. Though I am interested to buy GS-150, most threads here at "PAKWHEELS" has shied me away from it as the opinions expressed here seem tilted in favor of CG125 / or its variant the Deluxe model. Now I am finding myself caught between devil and the sea! On the one hand, I do not like Honda's kick-start feature and unnecessary LOUD silencer noise. However, on the other hand I also have came across numerous flip sides of GS150 that have deterred me from purchasing it with confidence. Following are the points, that I jotted down from most of PAKWHEELS discussions on similar discussion forums:
    1. Head Light - untidy magic epoxy inside the head light
    2. Battery mounting and holding belts are either missing or of a bad quality
    3. Tyre (rear) appears too small and unreliable as it punctures more than often. Therefore, buyers are replacing those with Thailand IRC-NR28 or SriLankan 100/90 - 18" tubeless tyre (but they still tend to put in the tube, because otherwise GS-150's low quality wheel rim tends to 'bite' the tube and thus puncture it)
    4. Side mirrors are of inferior quality
    5. Paint job quality is poor. Because of this mudguards, rims, chain covers and spoke parts start becoming rusty very early. Buyers also have found AFTER buying for chipped body paint on their GS-150s
    6. Speedometer Assembly Cable has problems
    7. Timing chain has problems
    8. RPM are high even once the bike is in Neutral gear
    9. Qualified mechanics are not available - even with the seller show-rooms. New customers keep visiting their respective show-rooms but are informed that their mechanic is unavailable.
    10. Spare parts are unavailable. Once, after repeated customer visits, one does get then those are of inferior quality
    11. Most buyers complained of following most affected accessories of GS-150:
    a. Lights
    b. Brake and clutch Cables
    c. Side view mirrors
    d. Rubber parts like gromets etc
    e. Paint and chrome
    12. Battery cover lock is not given!!!
    13. Tool Box cover lock is not given!!!
    14. Indicators are without screws and are not flexible
    15. Battery box and tool box cover clips (nakkay) are bad due to design and quality
    16. Build quality is NOT good
    17. Rear wheel / Tyre is always out (lehraa k chalta hey)
    18. Problem with chain sproket (clutch chorro to 'khatt' key aawaz aatee hey)
    19. Breaks are very weak. NO Disc Breaks
    20. Rubber dampers below seat get faulty
Guys, I know I got lengthy. However, I wanted to cover comprehensively as GS-150 price is pretty dear. I therefore, being a middle class person, cannot afford to make costly mistakes. Please note that I have not focused on RESALE aspect of GS-150 once compared to CG 125
Bro, can you help me in deciding please as you already have used both GS150 as well as CG125. Also, kindly advise about any news of Suzuki bringing out newer design model of GS150 any time next year? Or perhaps Honda rolling out their 150 cc Bike?

Sir, I left using CG a long time ago now I am more lean towards gs/Storm level class bikes but Sir .. get your self a CG125 and adjust with its exhaust tone, it only roars when you throlttle it badly, and donot shouts if you ride it reasonably and about the kick start thats ok its just a 125.

Just think for a second you have around 20 bad point listed here "excluding" the resale aspect in comparison of only two bad points of CG being no self start and Sporty exhaust tone ? I mean Common ON Man ? do you really need to take a second advice here ?? CG is a Clear BIG time win .... dont buy GS in any case you will litterly ruin ur money.. I can clearly see you will ruin ur money if u did that.. because GS is for special taste people with some different biking/riding passion .. CG is the best bet... dont lose it.

    Hope this Helps.

    Happy and Safe Riding.

kaleem bro, i agree with vicky bro
A friend of mine is about to buy a bike , and he wanted to buy CG. i didn't suggest him to buy GS at all, but once he used mine GS , he liked it and decided to go for it by himself.
so that's it. i will never suggest GS to someone who is so quality conscious. you will have to take this decision by yourself.

even Gull bhai I don't really think its a quality issues because same very .. same issues I have faced in the course of time with my CGs (I owned it more the once, 08 and 10 models)

but u know we mostly just ignore them and get it repaired or covered under warranty but when same occurs in any new bike in market all the guns are pointed towards it...

I remember the heated paiggio bashing in the past .. but see now every one at least admit it to be a good bike with new face in market no matter its not comparable to CG but it made its own place same goes with GS.. I see more and more people shifting to more comfort and more 'TODAYS' bikes other then CG..

but still our friends who are too conscious about almost every thing, I think CG is their best bet..

    Congrats M.A.
Do not go for fairings, this is air cooled bike and putting fairings on it will block free air flow to engine resulting in engine over heating.
    Ride safe!
