Thumbs up Who says achieving 1000 kilometers is a must for complete break in process.

Update: Breaking procedure is a must i was wrong earlier. Almost everyone around me used to say bike rawa ho ke ati hai. I always wondered how can this be possible. They can't run each and every bike on dynos for 1000 kilometers. In a factory after the bike is completely assembled they start it up and check all gears for hard 30 seconds. This is done by quality control workers. All new metal parts in a new engine require smooth finish and proper facing with each other for better engine life and performance.

Unique walo ka setup me ne b dekha hy ittefaq se.. they are a well equipped assemblers and their Owner is also an engineer, a UETian from 84 or 86 session. Agree with you, they do have dyno run test bed facility.

    nice thread loved the topic.

reminds me of my youth days.

in the year 2001, 02 and 03 i started buying bikes again after a couple of year's gap. Since GTO wasnt available, i opted for honda cg125 this time. i would get a brand new bike, use for 5-6 months in which time i would drive it for a thousand or so kms and then sell and buy a new bike.

let me share an incident of one particular bike. i bought a 2003 or 2003 model zero meter 125. i used to change oil every 200-300kms and always used caltex havoline. the max distance that i used to cover in one go was around 4kms. the bike was driven around a speed of 30-40km/h. i noticed after driving the bike for 700-800kms that the usual KHANAK, the famous sound of 125 was missing. i felt bad. i was heart broken and thought i took soooo much care of the bike and it is still not perfect. what did i do wrong. i couldnt understand.

another example of the care i showered upon my bike is that i would start it in the morning when i wanted to use it, turn the petrol to off position and let the bike run in the same condition till the petrol finished and the bike stopped itself. only then would i start it again and drive.

the bike was never given to anybody and was used very rarely. one day, an old friend visited from another city. he wanted the bike since he had some work to finish. he had to go to a nearby village around 35kms away from the city. he took the bike and drove it like we used to drive (full throttle).

when he came back in the evening, i couldnt believe it was the same bike when i heard the sound. i have never heard that classic sound even though i know many people who take very good care of their bikes. it was simply unbelieveably beautiful.

the bike was in full bloom after that 70-100km drive. the sound was enjoyable. when i decided to sell that bike sometime later, it was sold on the spot and on a high price than the routine and a couple of buyers were simpkly going crazy for it.

now its up to you masters to decide whether it was the correct way to keep a bike or not

running is not to drive hard in one go,breaking in is best done with RPM ups and downs all of the sudden,i mean on 3rd and 4th gear, accelerate and decelerate randomly..ive seen this mentioned as best way to break in for any new car or bike..tried on friend's new bike, superb results..( i havnt bought any new bike/car ever :p so couldnt have done it on mine ride :p )

As people know that the speed achieved on a dyno is actually very hard to achieve in real life. So, they gave us a shocking revelation that none, yes NONE, of the Cg125s have EVER crossed 106km/h on the dyno. So why do we usually hear claims of cg125 apparently breaking the sound barrier?!! The simple reason is meter error
    Interesting...
I am not racing type guy. But one day on GT Road, i had a little run with brand new CG125 EuroII, i was on GS150 and clocking exactly 100Km/h as per my mobile GPS (bike meter was showing 110Km/h). CG was few meter behind me and couldn't overtake me, it was maintaining same speed as mine.

I used to tune my bike from the best Honda Mechanic in Gujranwala he is known as the master of CG i asked him about it and he even he was,t able to remove the intense vibration and sound as the engine was,t in healthy condition , i completed the break in process of my CD very carefully and even after 3 years bike was able to clock 90+ everytime and it was a smooth as a brand new bike even my friends use to say Teri bike ka brand new ka maza ata hy abi b

I just came to know the atlas honda has large underground and undercover facility where they test all bikes on dyno, wind tunnel and then they run the bike on self made tracks with half inch nails at top speed. Atlas honda test thier bikes at 8000 meters depth so that if accidently one rider gets into sea the bike performs. Last they throw the bike to sharks if cg survives it makes it to roads of Pakistan or else lost in history.

Long run mei obviously gs-150 will give a hard time being 150.But in acceleration 150 stands no chance.

Just because you have a Ravi Piaggo a wanabe sports bike don't try to degrade CG 125.
