    Honest suggestion for your short lived passion. Stay away from big bikes. Small bikes sell easily.

    price of gs depends upon how much already spent on bike
    engine rebuild cost vary from mechanic to mechanic.. 60k to 100k
    spare parts are easily available..
    cant say anything about resale.

    Trust me you don't want this bike if you can't afford to import spare parts.I had a GS-500 and it was in very good condition.Due to lack of spare parts i had to sell it.Only few spare parts are available at certain shops which were imported years ago.Samjho na hone ke barabar.

    Exactly bro. You either need to import them or source from local persons. I know how much I spent getting basic parts from a local source while I had to import few from UK as well.

    I have heard that you can get support for gs-500 from suzuki dealership, did you try that? or is it not the case?

    If you want to experience a "Heavy Bike" then why settle for something like GS500, It has an aircooled 2 cylinder engine. Look for something water cooled with 4 cylinders. They will cost you roughly the same.

    back in the days motorway and punjab police was extensively using gs500s. These were maintained by Pak Suzuki so parts could be sourced from dealership. Now its 2013 and 2001 is loooong gone. You can visit/call your nearest Suzuki dealership to know the current status. Btw, how is work coming along with your gs500?

    A 4 cylinder water cooled sports bike for the same ammount would be in such a rough condition.Better to ride something which is in good condition.

    You can find honest 4 cylinder machines for a price range of 200k and above.

    This is a CB650 restored by junaidakhtar01. Its falls under your price range.

    oh come on, gs500 is a much better bike than cb650,
    * it's sportier,
    * easier and more economical to maintain and run
    * lighter
    * better suspension and handling etc
    cb might be more powerful but due to it's extra weight and less torque, it shouldn't be able to beat gs500 convincingly. I haven't ridden one so I can't say for sure

    but cb was discontinued thirty years from now, and gs 500 is still in production.

    (and you said liquid cooled 4 cyl, and it's air cooled)

    Well actually this particular model of CB650 is "Air and Oil cooled".
    Yes a liquid cooled engine is a completely different machine. You may find Hornet, Bandits, CBRs, FZR, Ninjas......they all are liquid cooled and 4 cylinders ......... a good one is hard to find but will fall under the posters budget.

    All I meant to say is........ you dont buy Heavy bike for everyday use.....you use it once in a while.......for that its better to get the real deal rather than playing safe with a GS500.....which by the way is not that easy to maintain......spares issue hotay hain GS500 kay....and spares arent cheap....atleast not in khi.

    well, you cannot compare the maintenance cost of these bikes with cd-70 or cg-125, but relative to other heavy bikes, gs500 is arguably easy to maintain and can be used as a daily commuter.

    btw, if you are aware of anyone selling one of the bikes you mentioned in your comment do let me know. (in 600cc category)

    I sure will. Its really hard to find one of these in good condition. Mostly the bikes I see up for sale are not in genuine condition. I'm actually in search of a 400cc for myself. If anything turns up in 600cc category, I'll surely forward it to you.
