    Default Motorcycle Engine Oils

Aslam Alikum, Immediately seeing the title you may have said this oh not again again one more thread
for engine oil but guys please bear this one too purpose of creating this thread is to share the range
of motorcycle engine oils available in market and for this i want your valuable co-operation as i would
share engine oils & their pics which obviously will show the specification but i have access to only few oils
which i have used or which are available in my city
i can't access all engine oils so that is why i request all of you if you have used an engine oil or you have pics of
bottle you should share here & share your review about that particular oil
Your sharing matters alot as i alone can't collect all info about engine oils available in market

As i just said in last line of first paragraph your co-operation is important in helping me out
to collect info about engine oils available in market but also i need your help in Engine oils subject As i am not expert in Oils
if we search on net this subject is too deep so want to know your info about these important terms in engine oils
this thread will be useless if it does not have any details info about specification terms
so kindly if you find some good info on net share here

    *API
    *JASO
    *Viscosity
*SAE Viscosity Numbers 10w40,20w40,20w50 or SAE40
    *Single Grade & Multi Grade
    *Mineral & Synthetic/Semi synthetic
Etc notify if there are some other important terms

The Sole purpose of this thread is to collect info about engine oil available in market
    *Specifications/price & *Picture

^Sharing some basic info which i know as par my bike

API in simple word an company which gives certificates of quality to engine oil
so always look for this API label oil but some manufactures recommends JASO
But most motorcycle manufactures in pakistan as the big one
AHl recommends to use engine Oil with API SG,SF,SE or higher grade
you should look your bike manual for the details about your bike

Viscosity of oil is shown in the SAE numbers
most oils nowadays available in market are multigrade
first number which is followed by W (winter) shows the oil viscosity at low temp:
lower this number thinner the oil be at lower temp:
2nd number shows the viscosity of oil at high temp 100c: higher the number thicker the oil
20w40 oil will remain less thick at 100c as compare to 20w50
my bike manual says 20w40 is good all rounder for pakistani conditions
but depending on the temp user can choose which oil suits engine more

Now Lets Start Sharing Some Engine Oil Brand Which I Know Or Remember

If you're successful in your search kindly inform me as well. Stupid mechanic poured used KALA engine oil into my bike's front forks

After searching on web a good alternative to regular fork oil is ATF, automatic transmission fluid. Get it in the 5W to 15W range and you should be fine hopefully.

You could have asked at least to put some fresh engine oil
I have seen my local mechanic using fresh engine oil while repairing shocks of 70CCs ...

Sure. But iss k liye successful hona paray ga na

ATF is not really a good solution because we have to change it after 5k kilometers or so. Plus, it doesn't have Anti-Foaming materials. It can be used inplace of Fork oils but its not really a replacement for it, which is why i am hesitant.

I am just surprised seeing the tension and difficulty i faced in obtaining one. Even the "famous" agencies who import barrels of oils don't give any information regarding fork oils. And i am honest, i have lost hope so far. As soon as you tell them you want it for yourself or your own bike, and the bike being "CG125" ... i am given looks which make me feel extremely cheap. Like its a crime to enter those shops and ask for a "small bottle" for our "puny bikes".

I have had it for now which is why i am retreating to you people and your experience, if any of you have any idea so that i can proceed with my plan of rebuilding my front shock absorbers.

Bhai bohat use kar liya hay engine oil. I am looking for supreme damping performance which we just can't get from engine oil. I want to experiment with some good quality fork oil (read my comments on previous page as well) to check the performance not only on plain road but also in bumpy conditions. I am 90% positive that i'll get my desired results with some quality fork oils available.

Engine oils (even the thinnest) make the shocks performance either too hard or too soft. I have done enough experiment with that and i just don't want to use engine oil for that matter.

"I been using ATF (Dexron) for years, in my Harleys too...thing about ATF thats good, is that its non corosive, and anti-foaming, which can be a prob in forks. Try the ATF...if ya dont like it, easy enough to drain it out again and change. In the 70s, I used straight non-detergent 10 weight."

Anyway as i told earlier, even though i found SGO not good after 700Km usage (it goes watery), i still shifted back to SGO after trying few brands as i found it a bit better than others (Havoline,Zic,AX-5). Well now again i am having same experience with SGO as i had first time. It was fine for first 600Km, but after that now i can feel that it's gone watery. Engine behaving and sound is crying for oil change now
This is too much.. I can't change oil every 600Km

While with Kixx, i faced bad clutch performance. Though i admire its endurance, it is the only oil found under Rs 500 which can withstand even 2000Km usage.

Now have both of these at home, and confused what should i put inside my bike.
    Motorcycle Engine Oils -1283444
Gull bhai i won't recommend kixx you previous time faced issue of clutch slippage from
first day of using kixx so between these two i would recommend SGO
my bike pridor does very well with its manufacture made oil AHl 20w40
it can easily do 1000km without problem and i don't face any issue

Bro as you are having issue with SGO too i would recommend why don't you give
try to some other engine oil as gtx 20w50 or any other brand with thicker grade
as SGO 10w40 becomes water after 600km

Oh bro sad story... In Pakistan u see very little customer awareness and hence very little proper products..
I'd ask LQ dealer the next time I go... Bdw u should think of getting it online or getting it imported thru someone. Did u check with filter house bdw?

    @ gull g
I drained LQ at 1500kms, it wasn't wattery but needed a change now. It worked well, no clutch slippage here.
U should really try n buy 2,3 packs of LQ semi synthetic 10w-40 with lycetuff, u even have oil filter in ur bike hence 2000kms would be like a breeze for it!

But use new oil filter with LQ to truely check it's abilities...
Its available for just 800rs / ltr and if u buy 3 packs... U can enjoy smooth performance till next 6000kms atleast!! Maybe 8000!

Guys for fork oils you will have to import them from USA
Their is a lahore based website called magiclamp.com
You will have to deal with high price as this product will be imported
They have cash on delivery in lahore
I have tried it since i am not rich but if one of you guys can then order from this website and do give feedback about these importers

It's suitalble for bikes too, has no friction modifiers. Theres another semi synthetic 10w-40 with MoS2 tech and that has antifriction agents that can cause clutch slippage - price 1200rs.

    800 wala however is suitable

They are expensive. But no fraud.
I bought a 9-cell laptop battery which i wasn't able to find in pakistan. They delivered in 15 days. My friend has also dealt with them.
Getting fork oil will be piece of cake through them but price will be on higher side.

About importing stuff, lets get real. I ain't gonna bear the tension and money for this puny stuff. I am concerned it IS available in Pakistan but i just haven't found the right place to look for.
Now all that is left is to contact the mafia to get you this stuff

my bike pridor does very well with its manufacture made oil AHl 20w40
it can easily do 1000km without problem and i don't face any issue

Bro as you are having issue with SGO too i would recommend why don't you give
try to some other engine oil as gtx 20w50 or any other brand with thicker grade
as SGO 10w40 becomes water after 600km
well i did put Kixx back again and reconfirmed my doubts
It's a shi* oil for GS clutch. Except this clutch issue, it's a fine oil in every way
So bye bye to Kixx forever.

Back to SGO for now. Will try some other oil at next oil change. Have Castrol Activ 4T in mind.

Summary of different oils i tried in GS
SGO: good oil for 600-700Km then it looses its viscosity.
Havoline: good oil for barely 300-400Km i would say. Degrades very quickly.
Kixx: Messes up the clutch of GS. In cold engine, behaves like you are putting gears without pressing clutch. Endurance very good compared to other local oils. Bike engine also feels silent and good.
Zic 4T: Too thin, feels like there is water inside the engine instead of oil. Way too loud engine and somewhat jerky ride.
AX-5: High possibility of getting fake. Inspite of being suspicious, i purchased and it was behaving just like any oil used more than 1000Km would do.

Yesterday after 2100kms running, I did the first oil change for Liqui Moly 4T 20W 50. The snap you can see below.

Color darkens a bit and had more life still. I got it double check from two mechanics. They were saying that the oil still in good condition, in color and slippery as it should. He took some oil and rub between fingers and he was quite satisfied and surprised with the quality.

But one of mechanic told me to change it any how. 2100 kms running in a bike is more than enough. Though he agreed that oil is still in good shape. But he was saying that it is due to your engine condition that it is clean better you should keep changing the oil at max 2000kms.

In this case I also agree to that mechanic. Because the money I spent has been rewarded very well, my engine is saved, my ride become lot pleasant.

Physically, the oil is still fresh and viscous. I also asked my mechanic to check oil condition and he was quite surprise by the quality of this oil even after 1200kms running. He was simply not hesitant in saying that you can easily and safely (with no risk) stretch this oil till 2000 or 2500 kms. Though the oil dealer claimed 4000kms but I am NOT taking the risk as per our traffic conditions.

There are some other factors for me in getting this good conditioned oil. My Sprinter engine is cleaned Ma sha Allah say so it always used to give me oil in this color when I was changing the Castrol Active at 1000kms mark. Secondly Sprinter has oil filter so definitely it is cleaning the oil.

My other PW fellows who are using LM, I would like to tell them please do not fully rely on my feedback. You should also provide your feedback especially one who owns bike withOUT oil filter like Honda or bikes with older engines.

In the end, I have no issue in changing this oil at 2000 kms mark because then it will fully justified its price. 2000km @ 700Rs-(LM oil) is very much equal to 2000kms @ 570(260+260)Rs (Castrol Active).

And its not just the price. With LM (even after 1200kms) you are getting a smooth, sound, vibration less ride. Soft gear shifting, no engine tiredness on long routes, no heating issue, greater pick, more fuel efficiency (I've observed extra 2-3 kms running per liter) , greater engine protection. And I think this is certainly not a 'Ghatay ka soda'.

Again, the above is an honest feedback withOUT any exaggeration. I will be getting my second LM bottle soon because I'm very happy and I have no issue in spending 700Rs when I can get oils in just 260Rs.

    Best regards,
