    Default Motorcycle Engine Oils

    Aslam Alikum, Immediately seeing the title you may have said this oh not again again one more thread
    for engine oil but guys please bear this one too purpose of creating this thread is to share the range
    of motorcycle engine oils available in market and for this i want your valuable co-operation as i would
    share engine oils & their pics which obviously will show the specification but i have access to only few oils
    which i have used or which are available in my city
    i can't access all engine oils so that is why i request all of you if you have used an engine oil or you have pics of
    bottle you should share here & share your review about that particular oil
    Your sharing matters alot as i alone can't collect all info about engine oils available in market

    As i just said in last line of first paragraph your co-operation is important in helping me out
    to collect info about engine oils available in market but also i need your help in Engine oils subject As i am not expert in Oils
    if we search on net this subject is too deep so want to know your info about these important terms in engine oils
    this thread will be useless if it does not have any details info about specification terms
    so kindly if you find some good info on net share here

    *API
    *JASO
    *Viscosity
    *SAE Viscosity Numbers 10w40,20w40,20w50 or SAE40
    *Single Grade & Multi Grade
    *Mineral & Synthetic/Semi synthetic
    Etc notify if there are some other important terms

    The Sole purpose of this thread is to collect info about engine oil available in market
    *Specifications/price & *Picture

    ^Sharing some basic info which i know as par my bike

    API in simple word an company which gives certificates of quality to engine oil
    so always look for this API label oil but some manufactures recommends JASO
    But most motorcycle manufactures in pakistan as the big one
    AHl recommends to use engine Oil with API SG,SF,SE or higher grade
    you should look your bike manual for the details about your bike

    Viscosity of oil is shown in the SAE numbers
    most oils nowadays available in market are multigrade
    first number which is followed by W (winter) shows the oil viscosity at low temp:
    lower this number thinner the oil be at lower temp:
    2nd number shows the viscosity of oil at high temp 100c: higher the number thicker the oil
    20w40 oil will remain less thick at 100c as compare to 20w50
    my bike manual says 20w40 is good all rounder for pakistani conditions
    but depending on the temp user can choose which oil suits engine more

    Now Lets Start Sharing Some Engine Oil Brand Which I Know Or Remember

    I found Zic 20W-40 quite good. Nothing to complain.
    It works fine just like Total 4T did for me. But this one has newer API grade and little higher price tag.
    1000Km done and i am still not feeling the need to change engine oil. So endurance may be better than Total 4T.

    Gull bhai i am very happy with its performance and specially its effect on gear box
    i mean there is really good difference in gear shifts they have become soft
    and overall bike is kick start and ready to go some days back i travelled 280km
    on bike pridor in day and all day it was running very smooth

    Gull bhai i have used Total engine oil in my generator
    its ok oil but in market there are fake variants of this oil available in huge amount
    and its cheap in price so you can expect its quality to be low
    i was not very impressed with its seal and bottle condition
    they really used to worry me did not look like genuine shop keeper used to sell me in 230 rupees
    i used around 2,3 bottle in generator later on stop using it

    @abdulrehmanrauf

    thnks for your clarification.
    If LM is covering +2000KM then its best and not expensive as we purchase local oil @ 350- 400 / liter approx (Havoline, GTX, Active etc etc) with drain interval of 1000 ~ 1200km.

    I am thinking about it. May be next time will try LM Inshallah.

    Even I have already uploaded the pics at drain time. You may see - https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/bik...20#post4072897

    I have been using it in generator 3KVA for 75+ hours and drain in condition with some life still.

    Just to measure the quality of this oil, it does not only run for more than 75+ hours but it has also disappeared the smoke which was coming to slightly weak rings. After two packing there is no smoke now and it really a happy sign.

    I am paying 750 which saves me engine overhaul for an extra bonus period (engine overhaul costs around 8K). It can run for 80hours where as a local oil only good for 40 hours.

    So LM is paying back you more than your 750. Its just a matter of realizing different aspects instead of considering only the price factor.

    Hey guys, I have 98 model honda cd 70 who's engine is quite old and there is some noise of connecting rod etc... currently I am using caltex 10w40 oil but want to change to 20w50 due to old engine. I discussed it with my mech and he said no it will damage the engine. Can anyone tell me how it can damage engine as I read somewhere on pakwheels that 10w40 is for new and 20w50 is good for old engines...

    So which oil I should go for?

    Thanks

    Your answer cannot explain many factors to consider;;

    Total mileage covered in a year?
    4000===Sure
    15000===Not sure

    Months?
    any mileage=6months max=ok
    any mileage>6months= not ok

    Which type of oil used?
    Fully synthetic==7000kms=ok
    ==15000kms=not ok

    Semi synthetic==5000kms=ok
    ==7000kms=not ok

    Mineral or Dino==4500kms==ok
    6000kms=not ok

    Climate conditions:
    many factors are involved
    Dusty conditions reduce engine oil life
    High temperatures shear down oil grade(Fully synthetic oils have high shear stability)
    Road conditions(COntinous stops and driving in low gears--Oil has to work extra hard)

    Maximum six month drain interval is a standard for most lubricants manufacturers..Tell your friend wait a little more till your PISTON RINGS get fried..

    The biggest reason for worn out RINGS is BAD habit of not following oil drains religiously..

    I dont think your friend is using AMSOIL(10000 miles/still six months) extended drain interval oils(expensive and highest in quality)

    Maybe he is using mobil1 or liqui moly fully synthetic oil..But clocking more than 8000Kms and considering sever dusty conditions + more warm climate in Pakistan you are doing more harm to your vehicle than good.At 15000kms without changing oil filter + dirty air filter i cannot fathom the ruckus it causes to that unfortunate engine..

    I have seen and observed how engines fry first hand this is my experience talking not friend..I have clocked 290k kms on Honda Civic 95 by regular oil drains and maintenance..I have kept cars which have last nearly 2 decades without an engine overhaul..Nowadays ppl have a habit of changing cars every 3 years or so..

    P.s i am not speaking specifically for civic but generally for cars driven in Pakistan where people use Shell peela dabba,caltexzic more than any imported oil which are in no way close in quality to brands like amsoil/mobil1..

    You should search a little more about oil grades/quality and drain intervals..You will get similar answers
    The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above-average drivers.
