    Default Motorcycle Engine Oils

Aslam Alikum, Immediately seeing the title you may have said this oh not again again one more thread
for engine oil but guys please bear this one too purpose of creating this thread is to share the range
of motorcycle engine oils available in market and for this i want your valuable co-operation as i would
share engine oils & their pics which obviously will show the specification but i have access to only few oils
which i have used or which are available in my city
i can't access all engine oils so that is why i request all of you if you have used an engine oil or you have pics of
bottle you should share here & share your review about that particular oil
Your sharing matters alot as i alone can't collect all info about engine oils available in market

As i just said in last line of first paragraph your co-operation is important in helping me out
to collect info about engine oils available in market but also i need your help in Engine oils subject As i am not expert in Oils
if we search on net this subject is too deep so want to know your info about these important terms in engine oils
this thread will be useless if it does not have any details info about specification terms
so kindly if you find some good info on net share here

    *API
    *JASO
    *Viscosity
*SAE Viscosity Numbers 10w40,20w40,20w50 or SAE40
    *Single Grade & Multi Grade
    *Mineral & Synthetic/Semi synthetic
Etc notify if there are some other important terms

The Sole purpose of this thread is to collect info about engine oil available in market
    *Specifications/price & *Picture

^Sharing some basic info which i know as par my bike

API in simple word an company which gives certificates of quality to engine oil
so always look for this API label oil but some manufactures recommends JASO
But most motorcycle manufactures in pakistan as the big one
AHl recommends to use engine Oil with API SG,SF,SE or higher grade
you should look your bike manual for the details about your bike

Viscosity of oil is shown in the SAE numbers
most oils nowadays available in market are multigrade
first number which is followed by W (winter) shows the oil viscosity at low temp:
lower this number thinner the oil be at lower temp:
2nd number shows the viscosity of oil at high temp 100c: higher the number thicker the oil
20w40 oil will remain less thick at 100c as compare to 20w50
my bike manual says 20w40 is good all rounder for pakistani conditions
but depending on the temp user can choose which oil suits engine more

Now Lets Start Sharing Some Engine Oil Brand Which I Know Or Remember

If you guys have a variable experience for 20w40 grade by changing brands one possibility is that the oils are not true 20w40 grade. This can be true for local brands but i have observed Havoline 20w50(the oil being used in bikes) is thinner as compared to liquimoly 20w50.In short local brands have different viscosities than advertised on paper.True 20w40 is all rounder for Pakistani conditions.I am using local 20w40s during winters and LM 20w50 during summers.
The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above-average drivers.

O I see but I can't do any thing about my oli as formula super is availible in 20-50W only and I cannot even think of switching to local brands 20-40 oli after using liqui moly.
On a side note: When I brought my bike I changed the oli to havoline 20-40 black bottle one at 350km and when I drained at 1000km the oli was like water but it's not the case with LM even if I drain it after 2000km on it love this thing.

But what will you do if the engine does not like it. Fresh engines especially from Suzuki we have GS, GD, Sprinter / Raider do not like thicker oils. It has been observed by many here and all are of the same opinion that these engines do not like thicker grade and 10W-40 grade is more suitable. Yeh aik baat hoi. Now if we talk about hot weather and older engines then 20W-50 is the most recommended here.
OK bro but 20-50 is fine for me as I own 70cc bike

Bro that's mean no option of 20-40W for me as liquimoly doesn't have 20-40W

if you can manage 2 minute warm up time than continue with it
waise no matter what oil grade you use its recommended to warm up
bike some while i feel minimum 20-30 sec is good to do even if its summer

i am using zic 20w40 engine oil and i am highly satisfied with it
local engine oils are not that bad specially i like zic oil as i have
gotten best performance from zic they cost very low as compare
to LM no doubt LM is very good oil too but very expensive
try zic 20w40 in your bike you would not feel difference in performance

Minimum 1-2 minimum idling is require for cold starts on motorcycles. If you rev a motorcycle at cold start you are an ***.

Waise amjad bro as I mentioned above that I m highly satisfied with LM and the only problem was this warm up time which is bit more than others olis in winter but it is absolutely fine in summers other than that it is awsome.
And one more thing which bike r u using now a days and if u r using zic than what is your oli drain interval and how's the condition of the oli when u drain it.As far as I know that oli condition greatly depends on driving style as mosltly I drive my bike at 80 or give full throttle as u know that one couldn't resist when driving on isb expressway when the roads r clear and my mostly routes r from expressway and in my experience havoline becomes like water just after 1000km of use in my driving style and what about zic.

I have recently used zic in my cd70 at 3000kms. The vibration was the same and so was the gear noise. No difference. However now my bike does achieve speed of 80kms. Previously it could only go till 75 to 78. I don't know if that's because of oil or the tuning done at 3000kms. The bike is now driven 3800kms.

20W-40 is easier to warm up than 20W-50 even though both have cold rating of 20W. Oils used were Zic 4T 20W-40, Kixx 4T 20W-50 and LM 4T 20W-50.

And then there is 10W-40 vs 20W-40. Both have hot rating of 40 so they should behave same at full heat. But try them on long ride on a hot day and with 10W-40 you'll end up with loud engine and the feel that oil has gone watery. But 20W-40 will hold its own much better. Oils used were Total 4T 20W-40, Zic 4T 20W-40, Zic 4T 10W-40, SGO 10W-40.
    Gull bro
Any oil better than zic 20w40 in the same viscosity? I am going to shift from 20w50 viscosity to 20w40.
Amjad bro and you supported Zic20w40 so seeking final verdict on this. BTW bike odo 4000 CG and only used 20w50 from day one. Used Havoline, Kixx, LM, Valvoline so far.

I think 20w50 is still good for your bike. As there are no importef 20w40 oils available

In 20W-40, not many choices are there i think. It's either Zic 4T or Total 4T and i have good experience with both of them in my GS.
There is atlas honda genuine oil too.
But now i am quitting Zic as it's gone API SL now, and these new grades come with less amount of some critical additives necessary for protection of old design engines like ours. I will be using Total most probably from now on.
My Advice: Use SL only if manual calls for it. Else best stick to SF/SG grades.

Anyway CG goes happy with 20W-50 too. It's the Suzuki bikes which give a little nakhra on thickish oils.

Here is piece from "Motor Oil" Article from wikipedia. A must read before you go putting SL in your ancient technology bikes.

1-couldn't understand first question. about whom r u asking Gull bhai?who suggest?
2-I think there is no difference in performance just packing has been changed. 20w40 was mentioned on old packing and API SG JASO MA 20w40 is mentioned on new packing.anyway bike is comfortable with it and can be stretched easily upto 1500 km interval.

Now i can use total with more trust as Gull bhai will also use it from now.

Just used atlas genuine oil for 800kms as Lm wasnt available at that time, not satisfied at all reverting back to Liqui Moly 4t.
The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above-average drivers.
