Smile Classic Bikes Collection / Triumph_Harley Davidson etc etc

    Salam Pak Wheelers,
Lets share some history of Motorcycle specially about Triumph/Harley Davidson etc. You fellows are welcomed to share you knowledge about old/ historical bikes here specially about earlier models of bikes.

In 1901 English bicycle maker Royal Enfield introduced its first motorcycle, with a 239 cc engine mounted in the front and driving the rear wheel through a belt. In 1898, English bicycle maker Triumph decided to extend its focus to include motorcycles, and by 1902, the company had produced its first motorcycle?a bicycle fitted with a Belgian-built engine. In 1903, as Triumph's motorcycle sales topped 500, the American company Harley-Davidson started producing motorcycles.
In 1901, the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company, which had been founded by two former bicycle racers, designed the so-called "diamond framed" Indian Single, whose engine was built by the Aurora Firm in Illinois per Indian's specifications. The Single was made available in the deep blue. Indian's production was up to over 500 bikes by 1902, and would rise to 32,000, its best ever, in 1913.
During this period, experimentation and innovation were driven by the popular new sport of motorcycle racing, with its powerful incentive to produce tough, fast, reliable machines. These enhancements quickly found their way to the public?s machines.
The 1911 Triumph is widely known as the first useable & reliable motorcycle ever produced till that time.
Now I m sharing here some unique photographs of Triumph motorcycle model 1911 with 3.5 H.P. motor which was considered as most reliable bike of that time.

Catalogue shows that the price of Triumph 1911 was UKP 55.00 at that time.

BSA Sloper 1928 is one of the most beautiful pre-war motorcycles. The model of the BSA Sloper appeared on the market in 1927. The name of the bike was a bit of an unusual angle of the engine, as in those years, most engines are set or vertically, or V-shaped. In fact, the model BSA Sloper has become an example for many other manufacturers that have adopted the geometry of the location of the engine.Classic Bikes Collection TriumphHarley Davidson etc etc -1276732Classic Bikes Collection TriumphHarley Davidson etc etc -1276734

    VESPA, Italy (1946)
In April 1946, this amazing new, functional and innovative mode of transport was presented to the general public for the first time in Rome. The shield was embossed with a new logo which replaced the previous Piaggio Aircraft emblem. Vespa was an immediate success and gained extensive media interest as well as public curiosity & surprise. The first sales of Vespa where made via a small dealer. Vespa scooters were also used during wars with little modification. Vespa also started to made three wheelers motor-rikshaw and 400 (model)cars as well. Honda is the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Japan and has been since it started production in 1955 (almost). At its peak in 1982, Honda manufactured almost three million motorcycles annually.
During the 1959~1960s, when Honda was a small manufacturer, Honda broke out of the Japanese motorcycle market and began exporting to the U.S. Working with the advertising agency. Honda created an innovative marketing campaign, using the slogan "You meet the nicest people on a Honda." In contrast to the prevailing negative stereotypes of motorcyclists in America as tough, antisocial rebels, this campaign suggested that Honda motorcycles were made for the everyman. The campaign was hugely successful; the ads ran for three years, and by the end of 1963 alone, Honda had sold 90,000 motorcycles. By 2006 this figure had reduced to around 550,000 but was still higher than its three domestic competitors.
1955 - The Benly J by Honda was a single cylinder engine displacing 89cc and it produced 3.7PS at 6,000rpm. The Benly JC56 was a single cylinder engine displacing 125cc and it produced 6.9PS at 6,500rpm.Classic Bikes Collection TriumphHarley Davidson etc etc -1276826

Quadrant was one of the earliest British motorcycle manufacturers, established in 1901. Famous for their big singles, Quadrant pioneered many innovations that proved important for motorcycle development but struggled after the First World War and the company was wounded up in 1928.
Quadrant developed some of the first motorcycles in 1901 fitted with the then very popular Minerva "clip-on" engine. They also made powered tricycles in 1902.
Below is a pictures of a 1903 model being held by Mr. Tom Silver. Mr Tom Silver used this bike in 1903 to set a new record for the travelling of 890 mile ride, and then set off for travelling a 6,000 mile around in Africa ..................... All this in 1903. Indian is an American brand of motorcycle.
Indian motorcycles were manufactured from 1901 to 1953 by a company in USA, initially known as the Hendee Manufacturing Company but which was renamed the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928.
During the year 1910 Indian became the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. Indian's most popular models were the Scout, made from 1920 to 1946, and the Chief, made from 1922 to 1953.
The Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company went bankrupt in 1953. A number of successor organizations have perpetuated the name in subsequent years, with limited success. In 2011 Polaris Industries purchased Indian Motorcycles and relocated Its operation. Since August of 2013, three motorcycle models that capitalize on Indian's traditional styling have been built under the Indian name.Classic Bikes Collection TriumphHarley Davidson etc etc -1277934 Indian 1920 model Motorcycle called powerplus
