    Default Bike maintenance

    Salam brothers
I have few questions in my mind and will be really glad to know their answers

Q1: Can oil change be done at 280km of running?

Q2: Is it necessary that the bike to be tuned after the first thousand kilometers or can it be done after 2~3 hundred kilometers?

Q3: How frequent the oil change should be done ?

Q4: And how often the bike should be tuned to keep it perfectly working?

Q5: what parts are checked by the mechanic during tuning?

(Kindly answer these questions keeping in mind:
■The road conditions are very poor.
    ■Rough usage of bike.
■Questions are related to 125cc bikes)

    God bless you brothers

that is the ultimate death for chains, WD40 is not a lubricant - its a low flash point cleaner and more properly its a water disperse system for electrics - thats why its name is WD

First of all I never said piaggio is a crap. Its a good bike; I've always admitted. But I have and will always say ,its an over-priced bike. Definitely not a bang for the buck!

Also I do not mind of you comparing me with "xarak" or what ever that thing is.
But kindly do not missquote me or presume what I haven't said
And in my view jo cheez achi hai uski tareef karun ga, aur jo buri, uski burai, byshk aapko meri baat pasand aye ya na aye

Q1: Can oil change be done at 280km of running?
Yes change first oil as soon as possible 200-300km 2nd again after same mileage
    than 3rd at 1000km

Q2: Is it necessary that the bike to be tuned after the first thousand kilometers or can it be done after 2~3 hundred kilometers?
I recommend don't get your bike tuned from factory bikes valves are left loose but as its summer
and in summer its recommended to keep valve little loose

Q3: How frequent the oil change should be done ?
Every 1000km is considered the best timing to change oil

Q4: And how often the bike should be tuned to keep it perfectly working?
2000km is good interval but can easily be extended to 3000-4000km if bike is nicely tuned
its good to avoid mechanics as much as possible

Q5: what parts are checked by the mechanic during tuning?
depends on mechanic by mechanic a proper tuning of bike is specially the first one
He must lubricate all cables which needs lubrication
He must lubricate chain with fresh engine oil
He must tight all the nuts & bolts of bike
He must adjust tappets to recommended company settings
and he should also clean air filter & must not touch carburetor
and open it an good company trained mechanic would never open carb of brand new bike

control cables in modern motorbikes are nylon coated core - using oil on them will make the nylon swell and the cable jam, rear wheel brake linkage is oiled as required - a drop of spindle oil or non detergent motor oil.

drive chains should never be lubed with motor oil, it will break down the lubricant in the chain rollers, use a spray wax on the chain or dip the chain in molten grease/wax mix to make sure the chain rollers are lubed internally.

Roller joints are regions the friction is highest and you are right sir gear/engine oil can never lubricate the joints clamped over each other effectively as they are too viscous..

Inshallah brothers i will initiate a city wide hunt again this time with more commitment in isb/pindi excluding the notorius ryders for chain wax..Ill be free after 12 as i have to drop my bro at PMA kakul. He just got commission

@talhabinomar There is a difference in displacement..1200kms tuning is recommended for 70cc bikes but same cannot be applied on 100cc disp bikes. They are better in retaining their tappet clearance as compared to their 70cc counterparts.Thats the reason.

thats a bit false, the clearance is also dependant on design of the head, e.g. the Royal enfield sold in India has a tappet readjust mileage of 800 kms and its 350cc.

CD-100 has exactly same built like honda 70..The only difference is a bigger borexstroke and different gear ratios, even similar valve clearance.Still i cannot understand why 70cc engine has a tuning interval of 1200 and the other 2000kms?
