    Default KAWASAKI KE100 83 model - 2 stroke - repair question

    As-salamu alaykum riders,

Please guide me with a few problems I am having with this two stroke ke 100

condition of the bike first when i got it:

the oil pump has gunk on it, is a little bit rusty and was not used by previous owner. I am thinking of cleaning it and try to repair it. Reading online i found folks prefer running the bike on premix 32:1 instead of the pump. so that is what i am doing for the time being

exhaust pipe has some leaks where it mounts on the engine and a few holes in the shaft where some bad weld job was done by previous owner

carburettor was leaking fuel so got that cleaned. but the mechanic cleaned it with a piece of wire..i suspect the brass jets might have been damaged in the process.

When it runs it runs great, 1st and 2nd gear will accelerate nice. then in third pick is uneven.. as in, on wide open throttle it will run a little slow and then suddenly surge and go fast..

Some times when i am changing gears it will jump straight from 1st gear to 2nd gear or vice versa.. i have trouble finding the neutral where i cant hear it click into neutral

    problem i am having:

was running fine for a few days but was giving heavy smoke. most mechanics told me its normal for a 2 stroker, quick jump online gave me a clue that the crank seals might be busted and motor oil is leaking into the chamber.

one day bike stopped running and mechanic checked and told me motor oil is all gone so he filled her up and it started on first kick..but it leaked bad

i think about 3 or 4 table spoon of motor oil would leak whenever i noticed after filling it

today bike refused to start again and would only start on choke. when i give it throttle it would shut down.

Last time when this happened i took it to mechanic, he put in motor oil and it started first kick. he told me bike is eating up motor oil which is normal. it needs 2 stroke engine oil+fuel+ motor oil

I am nervous taking it to the mechanic, i suspect he is not a 2 stroke pro and might do damage. He is telling me he will need to open up engine and inspect and change the damaged parts and told me total cost just for engine work might be 6k.

6k just to replace crank seals does not sound right ! :@ since im no pro i am afraid he might swap original parts telling me they are bad and put in china crap in there.

as i am using premix i think carb needs to be re jetted.. not sure.

non of the mechanics are using torque wrenches and just tighten the bolts by experience

there might be air leaks as the case may have been split and not resealed properly by previous owner. this might be causing the bad oil leak.

i would like to do compression test but don't know where i can get the pump with gauge and how do i seal the air intake and exhaust to do this. mechanics were looking at me clue less when i asked them to check for air leak and do compression test

after i get all this sorted, i plan to check the ignition timing.. i have seen youtube for strobe test to figure out ignition timing, but cant find the strobe light tool anywhere. could i make this tool myself?

this is my first motorcycle. so complete noob here.

i found the manual online so im going through it to get a clue: Kawasaki_KE100_G5_Shop_Manual_1971_1975.pdf

any idea where a good trail bike mechanic can do the job without screwing me?

Mechanic i am planning to get work done from is Aslam at aurangzeb market, sits on MA Jinnah main road. Anyone know if he is any good? a few people in my hood told me he is the guy to talk to for kawasaki

Thank you for reading my post..i just want to get this bike up to good shape. i really like it !

The oil pump of a 2stroke is an essential component of the engine, feeds the engine the appropriate amount of oil at different rpm's. Without it, the engine will run lean, heat and eventually self-destruct itself a lot sooner compared to an engine that has a functioning oil pump.

To replace crank seals you need to remove the clutch and magnet covers only, has nothing to do with dismantling the complete engine. Until and unless the engine mating surfaces are leaking oil into the combustion chamber, which is a possibility considering you mention the previous owner fiddled with the engine and in the process may have made a mess out of it.

I usually do the seal job for 2,000rs (With parts) for a KE. Or if you find the spark within you to want to be able to do it yourself, I will happily guide you throughout the procedure of sourcing parts and an how-to-do-it. Heck, I'll even lend you the needed tools if you're keen enough.

    synchrony that's awesome bro !

I would like to do the repairs and diagnosis myself, that's why i got a banged up bike. + i could have done what so many other people do i.e. bought another CD70, but why?

im sure riding around on this screamer will inspire other people to pick up oldies and renovate them. We need to have different kinds of bikes on our roads and getting the ke100 up to scratch will be fun

Ok now where do you live? it would be great if you can give it a quick inspection. It is my first bike and i might be missing out on some other problems too.

I would like to document the complete repair job on this thread so any one else getting this problem can learn

    Where do we begin?

Getting a banged up 70 is different, owners could go on to lose engine parts in the process of attempting a repair job themselves and it wouldn't cause a worry for them. We have their parts like we have an endless supply of chicken eggs, people who have the knowledge to fix them back up are in plenty too. It just becomes the opposite case when you have a rare breed as is this KE.

    bilkul theek bola aapnay.

Right now my plan is just pay a visit to some mechanics around my hood and figure out kum say kum choona kaun lagai ga
    [my location is Garden]

So far..went to this Aslam guy at Aurangzeb [seemed more of a GTO125 tech guy], Faisal near rainbow centre [he said he will open it up, tell me whats wrong. But it will be my responsibility to get the parts - he said he will write the part numbers and tell me where to go get them] and some dude in PIB colony shakeel "DT wala ustaad" [He said he is booked for a month and i should contact him next month. He was just sitting around on a bench chilling with his buddies with 4 or 5 really busted trail bikes around him - no tools or workshop or anything - i was not getting good vibes]. Tomorrow i will track down and meet some arif "dt mechanic" in lines area and see what he has to say

I was also asked to go to mohsin autos [ranchore line - could not locate this guy], main mukka chowk [gullu DT wala], nagan chowrangi [saleem mota - seaview racer??] , shahfaisal colony and azeezabad [shani at mukka chowk]. but these places are far away..maybe as a later avenue

Lets c kia kahani bun tee hai KE100 ki

dropped you an email, mine is wolfmoonex@gmail.com
