Red face My new CG Classic... (automotorsport_lover)

Updated: Bought Honda CG 125 Classic on 31st May 2014

My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430374My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430375

    Ride & Impression:
After riding Yamaha Junoon for 4 years, CG feels quite different.
Its not smooth or refined as Junoon but surely is brute raw power! Tourqe at low RPMs is good but at 6000-9000 Rpms you can feel the best acceleration!

I'd describe CG Classic as: Simple, Robust, Reliable & Raw. A work horse.

    Build Quality:
Build quality of Honda is indeed good, nice paint & chrome finish along with a crisp sounding engine. Another thing that I have noticed in Honda is that it does not need much running/break-in. I have driven her below 50Km/hr for the first 500Kms and after that I felt she had broken-in enough. I started slowly increasing speeds & lately I have also touched 90 km/hr but no signs of her getting annoyed or something. Did't even feel her heating up... this makes me think that either Honda bikes have better engine fitting or these come half broken-in from the factory... Im not sure though.

I also noticed that the user manual of my Honda did not stress that much on the break-in process as much as my Yamaha's did. I now frequently cruise at 70-80Km/hr and she never minds!

    Flaws:
There are no major flaws a.k.a. factory defects in a CG. Yes the rims needed allignment (well that goes for all new bikes) but I don't mind since I had to get the rims and mudgaurds compunded anyway, so getting them alligned as well wasn't something that bothered me. The whole job was done expertly and neatly by a local shop and they charged only 350Rs.

Yes the front tyre is a little defected as it wobbles, the wobble is not that much so for now I am ignoring it but I might go for a claim if company allows claim on tyres.

As claimed by some of the PW members that new CGs have these problems:
2nd gear khatak sound - is not present!
Khee Khee sound - is not present!

Patakha Sound from exhaust while DECELERATING through engine braking IS present in all new Euro 2 Models. Some have more, some have less.

Update: First detailing after purchase pics on page 11

Yea honestly but bike khud saaf aur detail karnay ka apna maza hai.. i washed bike using meguiars products today and it was such a joyous experience. The wash mit is just too good.

BTW @auto the bike's shining man! but you should have done a 50/50 comparison as well. I did it because i didnt want to be under impression k wax kam karay gi, i tested it. And there really is a big difference. The water beading is just amazing

    Better late than never...

    Congratulations bro!

PS: How come a bike connoisseur ended up getting a conventional bike? Why not GS150 or RP125? Just wondering...

as u own a CG alway park it in sight when you dont find a parking stand, when you park in a paid stand while leaving make sure u made an deep stare eye contact with the keeper and ask im k "oh bike kholoti hay theek hai na" then he will reply "gee Sb theek ha" leave saying "khyal rakhana" this way even he is in contact with the bike lifter will not get your bike lifted becuae he will recall your stare..

when leaving the bike unattended where you dont feel safe.. "Dont Leave" untill you find better spot.

    @vickytulla

Which is the best after sales service center of Honda in Lahore?
    Spare, services, claims?

Does makhdoom corp also have a service center?

Who has the best mechanics for my bike's 2nd tune up? First tune wasn't done well by a nearby guy?

Had bad luck today while going to office!

Because im used to off fuel gauge in junoon... I ran low on petrol, I forgot that bike was on reserve...

I turned towards petrol pump and made it b4 she died by pulling choke and driving like that...

But even after refueling the bike refused to start, i suspected some kind of air lock...

But the bike would only start with choke and with heavy missing... I barely made it to a nearby mechanic..

He drained the carb of access fuel expecting it to be getting over... current was ok... but it wont start except on choke...

Unfortunately I had to get my carb opened for cleaning... He cleaned it, though I did not find any kachra in it, cleaned the air filter...

Aftet this the bike did start without choke but won't stay start and do missing...

He fiddled with it again and it became smooth this time... had to pay 120Rs...

Subha subha daz pargai fuzul ki... I dont know exactly why bike was missing? Although I also have a fuel filter attached...

Makes no sense to me, I guess the mechanic just wanted to make some bucks for which he said opening carb is the solution...

Im not happy with them fiddling with type carb, though still I was on their head as they did this and am satisfied that they have not mishandled it...

One interesting thing was cheap plastic floats inside genuine AHL carb!

My junoon had rubber floats... and my old cd70 has metal ones...

    .

most probable reason .... I would not let them open the carb, only drain it and then clean the plug and bike usually comes up 99% of the time.

    Sorry to hear that, bro.

It happened to me once with my GD during its mileage test by a Suzuki mechanic. He filled 200 mL fuel in an external bottle and connected it to carburetor and ran it on the road. When the fuel was about to finish, he turned on choke to get maximum distance covered with that fuel. However, when all the fuel was eventually consumed, the bike refused to start even when the fuel supply from the tank was reconnected. To cut long story short, the head mechanic opened air-filter cabinet and, whoa!, it was flooded with petrol. He said bike got "over". However, carburetor didn't have to be opened - he cleaned air filter section, made a few a few more attempts and it came back to life, much to my relief.

So maybe it is not advisable to run a bike under "choke" for the fear of running it "over".

I hope carburetor wasn't fiddled with much and it was restored in its stock settings.

    Good luck.

I am blessed with a mechnic just beside my house who is with Honad bikes from early 70s and his fore father used to fixw the english bikes and his dady was a Famous Road Master Mechnic and he himself is a CG fine tuner so never bothered to go some where else.

Makhddom is only spare parts and sales I think.

There is a guy from whom @angel82 get his ride tuned and he tunes really well acording to him as CG and RP inherit same rokker engine so its the expertise which are needed more you can try his mechnic as he is also near by you if you are close to Allah Hu Chowk in johar towm.
