Red face My new CG Classic... (automotorsport_lover)

Updated: Bought Honda CG 125 Classic on 31st May 2014

My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430374My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430375

    Ride & Impression:
After riding Yamaha Junoon for 4 years, CG feels quite different.
Its not smooth or refined as Junoon but surely is brute raw power! Tourqe at low RPMs is good but at 6000-9000 Rpms you can feel the best acceleration!

I'd describe CG Classic as: Simple, Robust, Reliable & Raw. A work horse.

    Build Quality:
Build quality of Honda is indeed good, nice paint & chrome finish along with a crisp sounding engine. Another thing that I have noticed in Honda is that it does not need much running/break-in. I have driven her below 50Km/hr for the first 500Kms and after that I felt she had broken-in enough. I started slowly increasing speeds & lately I have also touched 90 km/hr but no signs of her getting annoyed or something. Did't even feel her heating up... this makes me think that either Honda bikes have better engine fitting or these come half broken-in from the factory... Im not sure though.

I also noticed that the user manual of my Honda did not stress that much on the break-in process as much as my Yamaha's did. I now frequently cruise at 70-80Km/hr and she never minds!

    Flaws:
There are no major flaws a.k.a. factory defects in a CG. Yes the rims needed allignment (well that goes for all new bikes) but I don't mind since I had to get the rims and mudgaurds compunded anyway, so getting them alligned as well wasn't something that bothered me. The whole job was done expertly and neatly by a local shop and they charged only 350Rs.

Yes the front tyre is a little defected as it wobbles, the wobble is not that much so for now I am ignoring it but I might go for a claim if company allows claim on tyres.

As claimed by some of the PW members that new CGs have these problems:
2nd gear khatak sound - is not present!
Khee Khee sound - is not present!

Patakha Sound from exhaust while DECELERATING through engine braking IS present in all new Euro 2 Models. Some have more, some have less.

Update: First detailing after purchase pics on page 11

Update: New detailing stuff pics Pg# 12

Initial impressions are good, engine is powerful.. at 4.5k rpm it does 50kmph, and at 4k does 45kmph at which I drove mostly...

Weather is hot in Lahore and doing break in of a new bike is difficult as it soon starts to fry your ankles with heat coming from engine...

Loving the dug dug dug sound though... comfort level is to be checked on a longer route and higher speeds.. at 40-50 there's no vibration...

Suspension and seat seems a little stiff as compared to my Yamaha Junoon... but again, its yet to be tested on long route.

Front brakes are good, rear are poor, headlight was good too.. but was totally misaligned and pointing upwards in the air.. lol

Loving the chrome... after a long time having a bike with fresh bright chrome!

    Please say MASHALLAH!

bohat bohat mubarak ho brother. By the way before you buy anything else, buy a lock, biggest you can find. Since you are from Lahore i'll suggest go to hyper they have some of the best wire locks. This bike is a thief magnet, better be safe than sorry. Agar ho saka to insurance be kerwa loo.

Beside poor braking issue the most annoying thing is dull meter and head lamp.
Try to find tube bulb as they have introduced in Dream, cost around Rs. 150/=

Right now it has its original stanley bulb and the headlight throw and focus is way better than my junoon's fake stanley bulb...

    Would change if necessary...

@Automotorsport_Lover! Check the tyre pressure in your CG125. If you ride alone mostly then keep the front tyre at 25psi ... and the rear at 38 (max 40 if you do pillion ride). If you want better grip with this bike, you need to keep a close check on tyre pressure and the rear wheel alignment. (New bikes have their tyres badly misaligned, thats why i am asking)

Have you tried it yourself? Does that bulb focus better?

Congrats Bro. MashahALLAH, I agree with better rear breaks replacement from after market, not big of a deal, but gives you great confidence and reliability while driving & breaking.

Diamond company is not bad, as a brand. But the quality of tyres in brand new bikes whether servise, panther or diamond is crappy. Tyres are misaligned, rubber is of poor quality and you usually find it important to change the tyres even when they are hardly worn off.

Its too hot these days. If you keep 35psi, make sure you strictly ride alone. Because pillion ride will dramatically increase the risk of rear tyre puncture.

DO NOT change the rear shock absorbers of CG125. The stock ones are fine, and will do a far better job than any aftermarket shock absorbers.

The CG Dream's shock absorbers however are a perfect replacement. Because they are neither too soft, nor too hard. (Asked the mechanic yesterday, while i got my bike's push rods changed)

dont worry about the tappets noise. bike is new so this is normal. change the oil and it will decrease but dont expect it to go before the first tunning. and turtle chrome polish have amazing results. i am using it for quite some time now and the result is very good
