Red face My new CG Classic... (automotorsport_lover)

Updated: Bought Honda CG 125 Classic on 31st May 2014

My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430374My new CG Classic automotorsportlover -1430375

    Ride & Impression:
After riding Yamaha Junoon for 4 years, CG feels quite different.
Its not smooth or refined as Junoon but surely is brute raw power! Tourqe at low RPMs is good but at 6000-9000 Rpms you can feel the best acceleration!

I'd describe CG Classic as: Simple, Robust, Reliable & Raw. A work horse.

    Build Quality:
Build quality of Honda is indeed good, nice paint & chrome finish along with a crisp sounding engine. Another thing that I have noticed in Honda is that it does not need much running/break-in. I have driven her below 50Km/hr for the first 500Kms and after that I felt she had broken-in enough. I started slowly increasing speeds & lately I have also touched 90 km/hr but no signs of her getting annoyed or something. Did't even feel her heating up... this makes me think that either Honda bikes have better engine fitting or these come half broken-in from the factory... Im not sure though.

I also noticed that the user manual of my Honda did not stress that much on the break-in process as much as my Yamaha's did. I now frequently cruise at 70-80Km/hr and she never minds!

    Flaws:
There are no major flaws a.k.a. factory defects in a CG. Yes the rims needed allignment (well that goes for all new bikes) but I don't mind since I had to get the rims and mudgaurds compunded anyway, so getting them alligned as well wasn't something that bothered me. The whole job was done expertly and neatly by a local shop and they charged only 350Rs.

Yes the front tyre is a little defected as it wobbles, the wobble is not that much so for now I am ignoring it but I might go for a claim if company allows claim on tyres.

As claimed by some of the PW members that new CGs have these problems:
2nd gear khatak sound - is not present!
Khee Khee sound - is not present!

Patakha Sound from exhaust while DECELERATING through engine braking IS present in all new Euro 2 Models. Some have more, some have less.

Update: First detailing after purchase pics on page 11

Update: New detailing stuff pics Pg# 12

@Automotorsport_Lover! Kindly check your registration documents and see if there is any mention of "Payment for Number Plates". I heard they are still taking money for plates but they never deliver. So basically you end up spending TWO TIMES on making number plates. Once when you register, and once when you make aftermarket plates.

I need to know if they are still doing that.

No they are not. I have recently got my bike registered and did all the paper work myself and went there. The only charges they took were for registration and life time token. When i asked about number plates they said, bahir sa bunwa lain.

Automotorsport brother first of all congrats for new CG Euro
sorry bro i am very late to say congrats it was really terrible experience
with your deluxe purchase but its really so nice of dealer he exchanged bike
couple of times i am amazed with this as there is nothing like replacement or
exchange of whole bike if any problem is occured its claimed in warranty no matter
even if its related to serious engine issue or even engine fails to work

Automotorsport i hope you won't mind brother but i guess you chose the wrong bike
from your last comments in this thread it seems CG is not able to give you comfort
and it is known for uncomfortable ride i am little surprised why did not you go for CG Dream
bike has excellent looks + very comfortable with new seat & new soft rear shock absorbers
CG Dream was perfect choice for you Atlas honda has done great work on CG Dream
its has come out beyond expectations only down side is OHV engine but was new engine expected??
except OHV engine & muffler the bike does not even seems an pakistani bike looks like some imported bike

Hi Octane is still Hi-Octane, and even in its worst form (like many places in Lahore, which aren't many) ... i don't think it'll be anything less than 90 or 89.

Plus, using HiOctane in this CG125 is gonna increase its engine wear. This fuel is designed for high compression engines and you are going to RUIN your engine this way (been there, done that). Now, i don't know if you have noticed ... but your bike will not only generate even more heat, but it will also scream more, and produce even more tappet noise. Don't believe me? Pay some attention to its engine and observe its behavior. You would never want to put Hi-Octane in it ever again.

Btw, even if you DO want to put in Hi-OCtane, DO NOT go for "Half and Half". Put jus 1 or 1.5 Liters of Hi-Octane and fill the rest of the tank up with normal Petrol.

As long as you use good quality petrol, your bike will be fine.

CG125 is VERY sensitive to bad fuel. So i'd say CHOOSE only ONE petrol pump which offers the best oil (look for user reviews as well ... say, PSO pump in Model Town, or Shell pump just before Batti Chowk) ... and then keep using its normal petrol. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

In my whole life, i have NEVER used more than three petrol pumps, and mostly have been using ONLY ONE. The Shell Pump at Larri Adda, which is not there anymore because of the construction. So now i have to go all the way to Batti Chowk to get it filled, which is like 8 kms away from my house. When i am in my institute, i used to use PSO Pump at Model Town Roundabout, and its quality of fuel was pretty good too. Actually very good.

Other than that, i have never taken a risk of checking out other fuel stations.

    offtopic but worth sharing ...

while we bable about vibrations and hell of a problems with CG...

An ATLAS HONDA 2009 CG 125 Classic PowerPlus non EuroII has gone from Pakistan to Europe and crossing Spain on a tour transit Visa (notice the number plates) .....

And his back buns must be off steel by now ... now thats an honor for a half a century old ride as I see.... and as I used to say its a bench mark of quality.... other companies must make there metal this strong to actually compete it.

Iv heard pso's regular fuel is 87octane rating whereas premium should be 91octane.

However total and shell's premium is 91octane
(Explains why i always got bad milage from pso pump and better from rest)

Pso's hi octane however i dont know... i guess it should be 91+ octane level

CG's owners manual says octane rating should be 91, if ur bike knocks at regular fuel then fill her with hi octane

@Automotorsport_Lover ! Shell's Premium is "normal Petrol" with 87 octane rating. Hi-Octane is LABLED as Hi-Oc.

Its amazing how you see the cg125 as a glass princess jis par agar banda cheenk b marday to wo bikhar jaye gi. Go on honda's website and read the development history of the bike. It was painstakingly developed JUST for developing countries. Jidhar ka fuel ganda hota hai and the ppl dont do routine maintenance. Honda knew there would be substandard fuel and developed the motorcycle to handle just that. This is the reason it has thrived in pakistan. Its a bulletproof bike thats designed to serve its owners reliably.
