thank you there toyota_mr dost
here is your requested info about HONDA bikes in India. in this I have included info about HERO-HONDA the "largest bike maker" in the world!!!
back in mid 1980's Honda formed a joint venture with Hero group of India to manufacture motorcycles.
apart from HERO HONDA, HONDA also produces bikes and scooters independently in India under the brand name of HONDA MOTORCYCLES AND SCOOTERS INDIA LTD. I will provide info about their bikes later.
now lets get back to bikes from Hero-Honda
CD100
the first model of "HERO-HONDA" was the CD100. the CD100 became a huge sucess due to its reliability and fuel efficiency, though it was not that powerful.
SPLENDOR
in the mid 1990's "Hero-Honda" released the "SPLENDOR" model, which had the same 100 c.c engine as the CD100 but it now came with a modern chasis and with better styling. the "splendor" went on to become the largest selling model in the world.
another model called the "PASSION" was released in the late 1990's. the passion is basically the "splendor" but with sleeker styling.
CBZ
in 1999 "Hero-Honda" launced CBZ, a 150 C.C bike. it made around 12.5 b.h.p. it was a revolution in the indian motorcycle scene. it was the most modern and sexiest looking 4-stroke motorcycle ever launced in India. it also was the first 150 c.c 4-stroke motorcycle in India. for the first time disc brakes were fitted on an Indian bike.
[back till mid 1980's 2-stroke yamaha RD350's were produced in India. also twin cylindered 250 c.c 2-stroke Yezdi were also produced at that time. but when the japanese 100 c.c bikes invaded india, these powerful 2-strokes became extinct slowly]
therefore the CBZ was a pathbreaking bike after a long time. the CBZ ruled the 150 c.c segment till the 150 c.c Bajaj Pulsar came on the scene and dominated the market totally. the CBZ still has a lot of fans in India. it is especially popular in Nepal, where bikes from India are exported.
the CBZ has been stopped production since a year now. but there are rumors of a new more powerful and fuelefficient CBZ being launced by Hero Honda.
KARIZMA
The Hero-Honda "Karizma" is the premium and the most powerful bike (barring the 350 c.c and 500 c.c RoyalEnfield Bikes) in india.
the karizma has a 225 c.c engine. it has the sportiest looks among indian bikes. it makes around 17.5 b.h.p
[the second YouTube video link posted on top of this page is the TV ad of the Hero-Honda karizma]
SUPER SPLENDOR 125 c.c
hero honda also has a 125 c.c model called the super splendor. it is a bigger version of the splendor. it has the same reliability and fuel efficiency as the splendor. it makes about 9 b.h.p power
there is alo a stylish version of the super splendor called the "GLAMOUR" (yuck name according to me). the glamour has the same engine as the super splendor
recently the glamour got "FUEL INJECTION" instead of a carburretor making it the first indian bike to get "FUEL INJECTION" technology.
PLEASURE
there is also a 100 c.c scooter called the "PLEASURE" which makes 7 b.h.p power. the scooter has been especially targetted at the young indian woman.
ACHIEVER
After the CBZ was stopped productio na new 150 c.c model called th "ACHIEVER" was launced. it had better fuel efficiency and a smoother engine than the earlier CBZ. but it has not sold very well because of its "dull" styling compared to the CBZ. maybe the new CBZ will replace the "dull" looking ACHIEVER
AMBITION
there was also a 133 c.c bike called the ambition which has stopped production now.
[all the bikes manufactured by Hero-Honda since its inception has been 4-strokes]
