what is the requirement for a bike and rider to ride on motorway?
as in the gear needed and the engine capacity? is it minimum 600cc? and you may share any related information. thanks.

Licence process is getting better day be day in Punjab however as compared to developed countries it is still a 'stone age' process. Bikes on motorway will be allowed some day when our licencing system will match that of UK/USA

I believe that there should be a Traffic School in every district of Pakistan where regular batch of morning/evening/night shift for various categories driving course should be conducted on semester bases and to be eligible to get a licence one must stay and attend that school for a particular period of time and pass the Diploma in Driving for particular class of vehicle then a test should be conducted under supervision of DPO (Traffic) + Senior Instructor of that school. This way we may eliminate probability of road accident due to lack of will or knowledge/aptitude of proper driving rules of most fundamental nature.

and then its only allowed on 23rd march. confusion there.

    So what's the conclusion here?
    Bikes aren't allowed?
    Only 500cc+ are allowed?
Bikes are allowed but only on 23rd march?

    Wait what?

True, however this is what bike riders are generally perceived to be in Pakistan. The stereotype works very well the other way when "ameer gaari wale nay ghareeb bike walay ko maar diya", regardless of whose fault caused the accident.

Last I heard, all kinds of bikes were not allowed on the motorway. Maybe they have changed this recently? You should email NH&MP ( NH&MP | National Highways & Motorway Police | Website ) and ask them about current practices and applicable restrictions.

IG Motorways Zulfiqar Cheema has banned bikes on motorways when he took the charge. It is not confirmed but I have heard that he has been transferred to some other post, which means a good news for bikers. A friend also told me that a news item said that writ petition had been filed in high court for allowing bikes to travel on motorway, but all of this is still hearsay so nothing confirmed until its official.

How can one policeman make such an arbitrary decision? Upon what law did he bases his decision? Is the ban legally valid?
