AHL recommends 1.6 rim for 2.75/3.00 tyres.
Though fitting a 3.00 on 1.4 should not be a problem but not recommended.
Remember there are many GS riders using big a$$ 100/90 on stock 1.6 rim while recommnded minimum is probably 2.15 for that tyre.

Wanna know a fun thing, i am running 3.00 tyre with wide shiny 2.15 rim. Gangsta style

hear story of mine i installed 3.00 17 in Jialing in approx 1.5 years i wasnt able to figure out why my bike pick is less than other jialing's after all efforts finally i decided to replace its original factory size (2.75 17 for rear & 2.50 17 for front) and now bike's pic increase abit and going to 80 90 easily compare to previous tyre so please donnt ever install wider tyre in small bikes only use company recommended size or else it would burden on small engine its my experience

Yup, wide rim blends in well with the looks of the bike.
i don't see why it would put any stress on tyre.
Tyre looks somwhat bigger now with this rim.
