Default HID vs Fan-based-LED (with pics) which is better?

Being the owner of GS 150 and looking to increase the headlight output performance, I today visited the market to find best available option (in LEDs) and found a couple of options. Shop keeper keeps on insisting that I should only go for the HID with High Beam always enabled all the time (silly, right, I know).

Following are the options I found.

    1. LED (with Fan and Low Beam and High Beam), Cost 1300
    2. HID (only on High Beam, Low beam is normal bulb), Cost 1100
    3. China Junk, cost 600

    I'm attaching pictures here ...

    First 2 pictures of HID,
    second 3 pictures of LED,
and 6th picture is china mal.

    Now the question part :-)

Which one should be better between the given two (HID and LED) ? Any experience with LED one? with GS150's stock battery without battery and wiring problems.

I'm more inclined towards LED, but for the second thought, if I go for HID then how is the light of its low beam bulb ? I almost never drive on High beam then it might make it useless to me.

Or is there any other better brand available then please name it so I can locate it in Islamabad/Rawalpindi.

By the way, why a company put a fan on LED bulb? It seems strange to me, isn't ?

Ok, I've spent good 5 hours to read almost every thread on pakwheels that has a word for headlight for GS150.

Here are my findings, which may be helpful for someone reading this post to find all possible details in single thread.

For HID or LED, following items are needed.

A headlight lamp with metallic housing with glass whereas GS150 headlight (2007 onwards) uses plastic headlight. May be this is the reason that I'm going to change the headlight now.

There are two options available that I could find for the head lamp:

    1. Xanadu
    2. Jialing
    3. GS500 Head light (perhaps he most expensive and hard to find option)

Once headlight housing is done, then the prices of HID / LED are almost identical.
Since GS150 is using 12V bigger battery therefore no need to change the battery (although changing stock acid battery to dry is better)

Good to have includes a relay and rectifier.

I was able to find a couple of threads where OP were fine with the stock plastic head lights.

All I can now say is, oh boy, this stuff is gonna make me either a electrical engineer and/or the mechanical engineer, lol. I perhaps was better off with my 6 years old corolla

Lets see what I'll manage to do tomorrow :-)

Voltage has nothing to do with it all motorcycle batteries are 12V, it's the amperes which matter.
My stock CG battery was 2.5 A so i had it replaced with dry battery of 5A rating worth Rs900 from college road.
All of them had this long battery (Taiwan), maybe some other brand is also avaiable

The stock GS battery is of 8A which is quite powerful, however the dry one you would be getting are slightly larger in size so make sure it would fit before buying.

I dont suppose LED would be requiring that many amperes but HID definitely required uptill 10A atleast.

Thanks for your kind reply. Actually I was thinking to change head lamp for LED only because of Focus. I am worried that even after having a great headlight light, it might not be very useful. My night time drive includes about 18 kilometers (from I-9 to Bahria town) so thinking of going best setup for light

    Understood.

    Thank you for the clarification
    and correcting my mistake.

I'll keep that when buying dry battery, I'll see if I could get one today.

I guess, bigger amp battery is good to have because I like self start of GS :-)

I m in pindi now, getting some of stuff done for my bike. So I just confirmed that I saw those HID and LED at Hassan Autos, a shop next to waseem autos. I. Think wasim autos is quite reputed so you can find that at shah di taliyan, on the left side of the underpass.

1.when buying the led or any hid or any lighting related thing go at night...murrie road shops i think are open till isha and after magrhib is a lot of time to go and buy such thing...speaking from experience you can check the result and everything
2.make sure that you get anything installed from a proper electrician make sure he uses male, female connectors for connecting the wires and not to use any adhesives to attach anything because they leave a mark...and also tell him not to cut any original wires because if for example you want to return back to stock it becomes a ghichmich....
good luck and do share your findings if possible after you buy it...

Thanks for the info, it'll definitely help.

Infact, the second point is so important that I saw the failure in front of my eyes.

I was at a shop looking for best possible LED, meanwhile a guy was getting HID installed in his new GS150. after a few minutes , I heard a low pitch sound ... Tusssss.... HID blacked out and there was pretty bad smell and white smoke from the bike. I canceled my program to get LED at that moment and thought to first look out for good person who can work on wiring and understand it well.

The bike's owner was seriously upset and I didn't took a photo. It would have hurt his feelings.

Electrician was a young guy, speaking punjabi and works in front of waseem and hasan autos and near by autos..

I don't really know what went wrong but I got to be careful.
