Default Importing idea harleys and indians

    Hey guys
So am located here in Riyadh KSA and have driven harleys sportsters and dynas plus indian scout 1200. Loved all of them. Riding them in PAK would be perfect.
Now going through customs is not an option too expensive. Amd cant send a second hand one too. So i got an idea. What if i strip the bike and send by cargo like the frame first and slowly other parts. Mainly through someone like goin to PK and i give them a fender!
Has anyone done this? What could be pitfalls? I know would take long thats not an issue. Please advise.

brother, once the bike is fully arrived in parts to pakistan then you would assemble it and it would become an NCP (illegal) non road worthy bike and can be impounded any second just like quatta smuggled bikes..

so if you will get an NCP bike and have spent a fortune to getting it in, why not by a Harley, Shadow or any cruiser from chaman directly.. it will cost you 1/4 by buying it from chaman border.

Apologies for my ignorance - in case of buying a bike from Chaman border will they assist in the documentation or not?

    I have an idea
When assemblng the bike put parts of the frame of an old scrap bike with papers already. Then ot would be just a modified bike on papers with previous registration.
Can anyone tell me what numbers are on the book where they take it from? I assume the chasis and engine

They are just smugglers they would make a deal with you and ship bike on your door step,
the only way to make them legal is to get the chais of a dead (same bike/ may be older year) and shift all bike to that old "registered chasis"

    or

get the bike impounded intentionally by going to custom house and telling the officials that you want to get this bike impounded and tell them you need this bike back, they will promis (with a little fee=bribe) that they will auction the same bike to you and will call you in next few weeks.

You pay them a little extra and they will park the bike in a VIP condition too so it does not get damaged in your absense...

for strategy #2 you need to have good high level personal relations

for stratgy#1 you need to be lucy to find a dead old same bike to use its chasis.

their is no other way or else you can create fake papers which is risky if customs investigate on ur bike or if some one reports you.

I checked chaman bikes, these bikes are parked there.. along many other choppers and cruisers..

I think you need to brush up on your registration knowledge.

before you can register your vehicle you need all the documentation from the offshore seller or manufacturer till the landing at port or local builder sheet with approved serial numbers. Which you wont have when you piecemeal the machine together.

According to your postings - you want to import a bike in pieces and then use a steering header of an old CD70 as the frame number.. Its possible but your motorcycle ends up locked..

@zulfiqar on what grounds would they lock up the bike? As far as my limited knowledge of our pathetic govt goes its not illegal to modify a bike. Or even build one.
They were few custom chopper makers in karachi. We need to ask them as they build a bike up from scratch.

no offense meant to anyone here
but instead of working hard and doing things the right way
Pakistani's focus on cheating deceiving lies and now over here
smuggling and ncp (which are all stolen stuff, local or from abroad) is being discussed
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    @hash4u
Believe me brother no one steals bikes in ksa. Cheating and decieving? Thats the governments job.
The taxes on the bikes is unreasonable. I for one do not want to buy 2 bikes for nawaz sharifs sons each tike i buy one for myself. Cz i work hard for a living and halal living. So when people make halal earnings it pains them to give it away. For others i guess its no big deal. And for your info i checked with the customs. For a harley sportser even if showed as gift i have to pay around 10 lakh. You think thats reasonable? After paying 25000 riyals for it myself not including freight?
So no thank you and screw the govt laws. And if this brands me an outlaw so be it. I always was different anyway.
And thanks everyone else for the input.

No offence but I am sure you must be abiding by all the laws that are in place in Saudi Arabia.

Unless we ourselves are not on the right path how can we preach to others or to the govt of our country. Agreed the present rulers of Pakistan are a pack of crooks but then what you yourself are advocating and that too proudly?

Remember two wrongs can never make one right

Don't want to start a debate BUT just to give you an idea am 45 years oldie having spent 18 years of my professional life in Dubai. My mother's family are landlords and my father's family is a combination of bureaucrats and businessmen. Despite my so called influential family background am debating whether buying a FAW V2 is a better option OR a Suzuki Wagon R

Take it as a friendly advise - Never Be Judgemental

    I rest my case.

One of the perks of being a Pakistani is that you're not allowed to have good things.
