KAWASAKI MOTORS U.S.A., today announced an all-new high efficiency natural gas fueled reciprocating engine, which boasts simultaneous achievement of 48.5% electrical efficiency and 0.7 g/kWh of NOx emissions"together, producing a level of efficiency unmatched by any other engine.
The power unit is more than double the total efficiency of the average automobile, which expends nearly 60% of the energy contained in gasoline through its tailpipe in the form of unrecoverable, wasted thermal energy.
“This marks the culmination of several years of development by Kawasaki engineers, as we’ve strived to create a power source that will serve as a beacon for everyone concerned with meeting tomorrow’s environmental standards,” said Hiro Matsumura, president of the group.
