Default Looking to buy Kawasaki ZX-6R

    Hello

As a rather recent bike enthusiast, I have recently come across Kawasaki's ZX-6R available for sale at approx Rs 850K. While, the mileage is almost 8,000 Kms, the bike is still unregistered. Other than that, the bike looks in prestine condition.

I would appreciate some guidance on buying the bike, like the things to look for in a bike before buying one etc. As I'm in Lahore, some referrals will be much appreciated.

    Regards

hello...im foosa...nice to see another biker here...

now for the bike...i think the asking is wayyyyyyyyyy too much for the bike...the bike should be around 500k or even 550k depending upon the condition...others factors come in when buying a bike but since you mentioned ur new to all this so i'll state only the basic one...BUY A BIKE WHICH YOU CAN CONTROL

here are a couple of good bikes for beginners

    a suzuki gs-500f price=525000 (including all taxes)

Looking to buy Kawasaki ZX-6R -798974

an Aprilia Rs-125 (very very fast 125 that is price 250k including all taxes )

Looking to buy Kawasaki ZX-6R -798975

another good bike is the 2 stroke aprilia RS-250...but to my suprise they stopped making new ones :|...my bad...

and this info is for you all of you...suzuki launched the new GSX650F...not gsxr...but gsx650f...and it costs 700k for a brand new 2008 model including all taxes

    here is a pic

Thank you foosa for the feedback.

As you have mentioned that aprilia has discontinued making 250CC bikes, what other alternative do you suggest?

Since aprilia is no more available, I'll try negotiating with the seller of Kawasaki but I doubt it that he will accept an offer of Rs 500K. However, if you know him personally, then please put in a word for me, which may help in the negotiation.

    Welcome to the zoo..
Since how long have you been driving bikes? No matter for how long, I wouldn't suggest a start from a 600cc directly. As I mentioned on some other thread, jumping from a normal bike to a 600cc directly is like shifting from a glider to an F-16, you know the results. Control is everything and you need some time to get on it aptly.
That price for a non-registered 600 is way too much, however a person like me would pay a bit more if the condition is superb.
About Aprilias, I don't think theres is even a single bike by Aprilia in Pakistan, plus the Italian bikes can be costly in the long run.
That being said, good luck with the purchase, do share the pics when the purchase has been made.

Well then, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Now it seems I have to hunt for a 250cc. Any fellow member here who has a 250cc bike to spare?

You are not looking for brand new ones?
Kawasaki is coming with a brilliant 250 ZXR model this year. Should be a great choice.

Yes I read about it on the internet. I agree its an option worthwhile exploring.

Its retailed at USD 3,500 (PKR 217,000) and with duties and other charges, I figure it'll cost me around PKR 400,000? Is there anyway to get a precise estimate of its landed price?

I was rather surprised as to how you could forget the 2R being a Kawi fan, as its such a nice machine.

    @Hamie

Its always upto the purchaser what he wants for a beginner's bike. But this is why I wouldn't suggest a 600 to start with. Learning to control is everything.

@foosa... hey man, the aftab guy i told you about gave me an estimate of approx Rs 475K for the above bike.

@saya88... sure i'll be interested. Can you pls post some pictures of your bike here and share some details like mileage, accidental history (try being honest), year of make etc. Much appreciate it.

    @foosa again... i'll call you.

my personal view, any bike below 600cc looks ugly to me. If you want a real sports bike, which also looks and sounds like a real sports bike go for atleast 600cc bike. And regarding controling a 600cc bike.
I have known atleast 2 ppl who had yamaha yzf-r6 and cbr-600f4 as their first bike. Both of these guys never drove even a normal cd70 in their life. And if you ride these bikes at normal crusing speeds you wont have any problem. Just dont try to race.

I would still say get a 600cc R6 preferably. It will look and sound good. You will have real fun on it and it would surely be a head turner.

O! maverick! you spoke rather the very words that resonate how I feel right now. Who knows, I might end up buying 600cc at the end of the day. Being a tall heavy built (180lbs) man, I am a bit aprehensive with buying a 250cc.

I am also considering Suzuki's GS-500F (recommended by foosa above) as a viable option. Lets see... working on it.

I would like to add my views in addition to support Maverickk... control is in your hands and mind ..... just dun't let ur craziness drive ur bike while you are on it ....... in my personal experience even heavier bike should not be matter for u to control.... i moved from 100cc yamaha to 750 katana which weight 480 lbs(dry weight) but was not very difficult to control.... and my self only 150 lbs.... so gud luck watever u get.....

hamir, dont even think of buying a 250cc bike. Its waste of money. Believe you me. Buy a real thing. Atleast a 600cc bike by yamaha, honda , suzuki or kawasaki all will look ang sound good and will be head turner. No one looks at you on a 250cc bike bhai. Anything below 600cc is waste of money.

And as attiq said control is in your hands. Doesnt matter what your age is. Belive you me, i have seen a 18 year old riding a yamaha R6 in lahore at fairly good speed, i was at above 100km/h on car following him and he must be well above that speed. As long as you are careful, wont matter at all. YOu can even handle hayabusa 1300cc. Makes no difference.

My personal choice would be yamaha R6. Rest is up to you. But plz dont waste your money on anything below 600cc.
Good luck with your purchase. Do post pictures of your bike when you get it.
