    Default Suzuki 400cc Engine heating

My friend has a suzuki 400cc. He hadnt used it for quite a while now. Recently we took it out for a ride. The bike runs great but heats up after a while if we exceed 60kms/hr. The engine of the bike is perfect. Could anyone suggest what the problem might be?

    @kittu
well like @deadly mention servicing the radiator might solve ur frd`s prb, but there is one more thing, do ur frd have to fill up the radiator each n every time b4 riding the bike ?? if it is then the possible cause will b the damage of seating area of the radiator cap, check that out may b it`s not sealing and the water is leak off from the expasion bottle. OR check the RPM of the cooling fan, cuzz sumtimes the fan is running but not on sufficient RPM to cool the water in the radiator. and abt the head gasket !! ask ur frd to cold start the bike and remove the radiator cap and give race, if ur frd sees water bubbles coming out from the radiator then gasket may b faulty elsewise u dun need to go for the gasket
rest @foosa can help u quite better.

    -Service the Radiator.
    -Make the Fan direct.

These bikes heat up when they are old.

I think his bike has the liquid cooled engine thats why this is happening.
If the bike has the liquid cooled engine, of course one reason can be the leaking gasket. Check for it.
Secondly, you should see if there is coolant in the radiator. If you have the coolant overflow problem then go buy a new radiator cap. Also check that the radiator reservoir is properly sealed with the cap. Does this help?

    Same old questions,

    1) Which Bike?
    2) Air cooled or Water cooled?
    3) Position of temp Guage when heated up?
    4) If water cooled then is it reducing water/coolant?

i am so sorry guys i wasnt able to check the replies. Its a water cooled bike. The radiator is all clean cuz i got it checked and there were some leakages and i got em fixed. One mechanic told me its because of the gaskit. Can the gaskit be arranged? 2nd some one told it might be cause of the current problem.. I am in lahore with the bike. Experts now give ur suggestions.. Thanks a lot to ALl the pak wheelers.

    What are the symptoms?

I mean is ur bike reducing water even after short ride?
As spectra asked is there any symptom of Oil & water mixing?
Or u r just feeling extra heat on ur legs while riding?
Does temp gauge rises to red/damger zone?

The water isnt reduced after small ride.
The water and oil isnt mixing up.
I can feel the heat coming out of the bike. The gauge goes to red zone after 10 or 15 mins of drive. I have given the fan of the bike which had broken fins to be repaired. lemme check if it solves the problem. Back to you guys again. Thanks.
