    NGK Plugs Info.

    > What is the P stand for in a NGK BP6HS sparkplug. On the NGK-site it
    > is an "Projected insulator type" But I do not know what this means
    > to a sparkplug.
    >
    >
    >
the P means the centre electrode projects further
into the combustion chamber than the standard plug.
Engines which are not designed to use this kind of plug can have
problems with the projecting core hitting the top of the piston.
VW engines are not designed for the projecting core - you should use
the B5HS or B6HS (6 is slightly cooler if they are burning) plugs
(or B5ES or B6ES for the long reach VW heads).
    NGK codes:
    First letter - Thread
    A 18mm
    B 14mm
    C 10mm
    D 12mm
    E 8mm
    Second letter (if present)
    P - projecting insulator
    U - surface discharge type
    Third letter (if present)
    R - resistor type
Number - Heat range (opposite to the Bosch heat range numbering)
    2 is hottest
    13 is coldest

    Next Letter - Thread reach
    E - 19mm (3/4")
    H - 12.7mm (1/2")
    Next letter - construction
    S - standard
    Y - V grooved centre electrode
V - Centre electrode precious metal
    VX - platinum
    P - double platinum
    K - two ground electrodes
    M - two grounds - rotary engines
    Q - 4 grounds - rotary engines
    B - for CVCC engines
J - two oblique ground electrodes
    A - special specifications
    C - Oblique ground electrode
    Last number (if present)-spark gap
    9 - 0.9mm
    10 - 0.10mm
    11 - 0.11mm
    12 - 0.12mm
    -L Intermediate heat rating
    -N Special ground electrode
So B5HS for a VW translates to 14mm thread dia, 5 heat range, 12.7mm
    thread length and standard construction.

Differnce Between NGK Traditional spark plugs and NGK IX Iridium Plugs.....

    NGK Traditional spark plugs

    Yamaha RX115 Owners & Fan Club - 141011 Yamaha RX115 Owners & Fan Club - 141012
NGK traditional plugs are constructed for longer life and optimum performance. Corrugated ribs prevent flashover. NGK uses only the purest alumina silicate in its ceramic insulator which give all NGK plugs greater strength and better heat transfer. Copper cored and triple sealed to further aid in heat removal and prevent interior leakage.

    NGK IX Iridium Plugs

    Yamaha RX115 Owners & Fan Club - 141013 Yamaha RX115 Owners & Fan Club - 141014

NGK iridium plugs represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. The iridium center electrode is both stronger and harder than platinum. This allows NGK engineers to design an ultra-fine (0.6mm)center electrode reducing the voltage requirement for spark. This allows for a brighter, stronger spark from your existing ignition system. The ground electrode has a tapered cut at the firing end which reduces quenching for better flame core growth and increased ignitability. The combination of fine wire center electrode and tapered cut ground will increase performance, improve acceleration, and fuel efficiency.

I was reading the carb specs posted, The most important thing missed out was the float height - it should be 21.5mm from the base of carb to the float when its inverted but just touching the needle - not pressing it.

Once you have your float height set, and using a 17.5 pilot (slow) jet with 2+1/4 turns out of the idle air bleed screw, you would have good control till 1/8 throttle,
The rest was perfect with 2nd step from the top of the needle and using a 150 jet on the main.

Be absolutely sure your air passage for your main needle holder are clean - if not you will have gulps of fuel at higher revs and may bog down..

You may also want to look into adjusting your reed valves first - they should be 9mm from the tip to stop. This is what dictates engine torque. (be sure you use threadlock on the screws as they can come loose while the engine is running - destroying your engine)
