MAP has become effective as of 1st of January 2007 .
Dear Sir,
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly established organization called Motorsport Association of Pakistan (MAP). The Motorsport Association of Pakistan is a non-profit organization formed with the specific aim to address the significant lack of motorsport development in the country. As a nation Pakistan has been left far behind in the world of motorsports and it is high time that extensive efforts were made to narrow the vast differentials that now exist between Pakistan and even its closest neighbors.
MAP has been founded by a number of like-minded motorsport enthusiasts and motorsport professionals and is the brainchild of Tausif H. Agha; a pioneer in the field of motorsports in Pakistan and a motorsport professional with over twenty one years of international motorsport experience including at the highest level with the Bahrain Formula 1 effort.
The executive committee consists of the following office bearers:
§ Tausif H. Agha – President
§ Dr. Syed Ovais Naqvi – General Secretary
§ Mohsin Ikram – Treasurer
§ Naeem Murtaza – Government Liaison & P. R. Officer
§ Nur Ali – Technical Officer
We are pleased to announce that as a major accomplishment the Motorsport Association of Pakistan has become a member of the Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA). Globally, all motorsport is governed by the FIA. The FIA appoints a National Sporting Authority (ASN) for each of its member countries. The ASN is the only recognized holder of the Sporting Power for all branches of motor sport in its country. There is only one ASN per country. For Pakistan, this is the Motorsport Association of Pakistan. The MAP is the direct motor sport representative of Pakistan within the FIA.
The FIA has invested MAP with sole authority to exercise the sporting power as the National Sporting Authority (ASN) for motorsports in Pakistan to regulate all forms of motorsports. MAP has been entrusted to enforce all official FIA statutes, regulations and their enclosures within the territory of Pakistan. MAP will strive to promote and develop motorsport events and activities in Pakistan in accordance with the rules, and guidelines of the International Sporting Code of the FIA and the national laws of Pakistan while upholding the values and spirit of competitive sport and fairness. It will be the responsibility of the Motorsport Association of Pakistan to ensure that safety is maximized in conduct of motorsport in Pakistan and to formulate and enforce the standards, guidelines and regulations for promoting, conducting and controlling motorsports in Pakistan. Additionally MAP will establish and operate the judicial system for motorsport in Pakistan having the highest regard for public interest, environment protection, and other national causes in the operations of the Motorsport Association of Pakistan.
It is our hope that your organization will support the Motorsport Association of Pakistan in laying a foundation that can sustain a multi-staged development of motorsport activities in Pakistan. Let us join hands in bringing Pakistan up to speed.
We are racing to put Pakistan on track.
Sincerely
Dr. Syed Ovais Naqvi
General Secretary
Motorsport Association of Pakistan
